How to Create Your Own Nicki Minaj Halloween Costume

Kmart And Shop Your Way Celebrate Launch Of Nicki Minaj Collection

Anyone who has been a Nicki Minaj fan since she released her debut mixtape, Playtime Is Over, in 2007 has been able to witness the odd – yet entertaining – transformation she has made.  At the start of her career, Nicki’s music was not accompanied by colorful wigs and and eye-catching costumes; however, by the time she released her third and final mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty, her style of dress was slowly beginning to transition.  On the cover of her debut album, 2010’s Pink Friday, Nicki, who by then had started a “Barbie” themed movement, appeared on the cover dressed and posed link a doll.

In the years since Nicki’s mainstream solo debut, she has become just as popular for her colorful wardrobe as she has for her lyrical prowess.  It seems that every time Nicki shoots a new video, or makes a public appearance, she is wearing something that will more than likely be the topic of discussion for days to follow.  During the 2011 I’m Still Music tour, Nicki appeared on stage dressed in a tie-dyed body suit complete with a half pink wig slightly reminiscent of a Conehead.

While most people wouldn’t even want to be caught dead wearing half of Nicki’s outfits in public (or private), her outrageous ensembles would make the perfect Halloween costume for anyone looking to temporarily jump on Nicki’s Barbie wave.  And for those of you who hate being asked “what are you supposed to be?” dressing up as Nicki will certainly eliminate that question; even if people are still wondering what she was supposed to be.  Although Nicki’s costumes often look out of this world, dressing up like the Queens, NY rapstress may be easier than you think.

When dressing up as Nicki you may want to select one of her most popular outfits and duplicate it.  An easy (and appropriate) choice would be Nicki’s jean shorts and t-shirt look from her “Super Bass” video.  To recreate this simple, yet unmistakably Minaj masterpiece, all you will need is a pair of jean shorts, a white tank top, a wavy light pink wig, and a pair of pink shoes.  It is important to remember that hair is key no matter which version of Nicki you choose to be.  Whether it’s pink, green, or a combination of the two- Nicki rarely leaves home without an attention grabbing wig or hairstyle.

For those of you daring enough to attempt something like Minaj, Clevver Style’s instructional video will provide you with some more tips on how to easily and inexpensively clone one of Nicki’s latest looks.
