Last night was the moment we’ve all been waiting for; the winner of Dancing with the Stars was announced. The mirrorball champion was crowned king (or queen?) of the dance floor, and fans were ecstatic. Of course, you can’t announce the winner without a little bit of something leading up to it, so producers decided they’d spend the show having the contestants dance, which is such a shocker. The couples each danced three dances, and it seems that Alfonso Ribeiro and his partner, Witney Carson, received three perfect scores from the judges.
It was a great night for everyone, with the energy high and the crowd going wild for the dancers. However, none more so than when Ribeiro took to the dance floor to bust out some of his moves from his days as Carlton Banks from the hit series “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” The world is a sucker for The Carlton, and it was proven when the star was announced as the winner of the show, the lucky man to get to take home the mirrorball trophy to add to his collection of…other trophies?
While he’s been a fan favorite all season, Ribeiro had a big supporter Monday night in his old Fresh Prince co-star Will Smith decided to ask all of 74 million people who follow him on Facebook to vote for his friend on Dancing with the Stars. We’re sure a few didn’t bother, and some were probably already voting for Ribeiro, but we’re betting it didn’t hurt the star’s chances of winning when someone as famous and well-liked as Smith asked the world to do a little voting. In the end, it all worked out for Ribeiro, who danced The Carlton twice this season, announced his wife’s pregnancy on the show and who now gets to hold the title of DWTS champ.
