Five Celebrities Who Publicly Hate Artie Lange

DIRECTV'S Seventh Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl - Arrivals

Comedian/on-air personality, Artie Lange, rose to fame during the 90s as a cast member on the popular sketch-comedy series, Mad TV and then as Howard Stern’s sidekick on The Howard Stern Show.  Despite earning a lot of attention from the media and the public, Lange has often found himself in hot water.  Throughout the years, Lange has rubbed numerous people the wrong way, and has also made several unnecessary and offensive comments.  However, despite the fact that many people don’t like him and/or what he has to say, Lange doesn’t seem to care and continues to do and say whatever he wants.  Of course, it’s impossible to live like that without making a few enemies, and Lange has certainly made his fair share.  Here are five celebrities who publicly hate Artie Lange.

1. Howard Stern

There’s no secret that Artie Lange and Howard Stern have had some serious issues over the years.  For a while, the two were good friends and co-workers, but things sooner changed. In 2009, Lange was let go from The Howard Stern show and eventually attempted suicide just a few months later. Over the years, Lange has spoken openly about his feelings towards Stern, and although Stern has remained a little more private on the issue, stating that he doesn’t want to discuss Lange or his suicide attempt over the air.  Although both men have stated that they’re on decent terms, it’s clear that the two are no longer buddies.

2. Cari Champion (ESPN)

Artie Lange seems to be a pro at putting his foot in his mouth.  Everybody loves a good joke, but things stop getting funny once certain lines are crossed.  Lange carelessly upset a lot of people when he made several incredibly rude and derogatory comments towards journalist, Cari Champion.  In 2014, he fired off a series of tweets discussing inappropriate racially charged sexual fantasies he had about Champion.  After his tweets his the Internet, Lange refused to take them back, Champion’s employer, ESPN banned Lange and issued a statement saying: “His comments were reprehensible and no one should be subjected to such hateful language,” the network said in a statement on Wednesday. “They objectify and demean one of our valued employees under the thin guise of “comedy” and are offensive to all of us. We will not dignify them with any other comment.” Although Champion never personally responded to the tweets, there’s a good chance that she wouldn’t have anything nice to say about Lange and his comments.

3. Dice Clay

Beef may seem like something that only occurs in the music industry, but no one is safe when it comes to disputes and arguments, especially when they involve money. Actor/comedian, Dice Clay, has been working in the entertainment industry for nearly 40 years, and he found himself in the middle of a feud with Lange in 2006 when Lange accused Clay of not paying him money that he was owed for a show they performed together. Lange claimed that it was his presence at the show that was the reason for it being sold out, and believed that Clay lied to him about attempts he had made to contact him.  However, Clay denies many of Lange’s claims, insistent that Lange had nothing to do with the show being sold out. Although Lange was eventually paid, it was clear that there was still some tension in the air.

4. David Cross

It seems like Artie Lange just can’t get along with anyone, and has made a lot of enemies along the way. Artie Lange has made several critical comments regarding David Cross, and it’s obvious that the two don’t seem to like each other very much. In 2013, Cross spoke openly about his feelings towards Lange ironically saying that he  understands how the two may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but  does not “hate” him.  He did state; however, that he simply doesn’t find Lange funny, which for a comedian might as well be saying that you hate them.  Cross also noted: “I don’t use up my “hate” quotient for comics who don’t hurt anybody.”

5. Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler is one of the most popular female comics on the scene, and with that being said, she’s probably not a person that you want to have problems with.  But as usual, Artie Lange doesn’t care who he insults – ever. Over the years, Lange has made some comments about Handler’s ability to make people laugh, and insinuated that he doesn’t think she’s as funny as people give her credit for.  Well Handler wasn’t about to sit back and let her work be undermined.  Back in 2009, she stated: “Someone told me that Artie Lange said I was the most untalented person on television, and I’m like, Artie Lange is fat and disgusting. He has no business talking about anyone’s talent, ever. I can’t stand him.” Ouch, talk about keeping it real!
