What Rick Ross’ Life as a Correctional Officer Looked Like

There’s a lot people don’t know about Rick Ross. He’s a rapper, and people know that. He’s had to lose some serious weight thanks to unfortunate health issues, and people know that. He’s looking to become motivational in the way of helping people figure out that they can make positive life changes for themselves if they just put their minds to it. And many people know that. But what surprises most people on a regular basis is the fact that he admitted a few years ago that before he was a rapper and a ‘gangsta’ he had another job; corrections officer.

That’s right; Rick Ross worked to keep prisoners in line at a prison, and he loved that job. In fact, he says he’d do it again in a heartbeat. Of course, we doubt that considering last we checked corrections officers did not make millions of dollars a year quite like he’s pulling in right now, but you get the point. So as a corrections officer, what would Ross have done on a typical day? It’s hard to imagine, but we have checked it out.

He Would Work Odd Hours

Correctional officers are needed 24/7 no matter what, so Ross’ hours could have been anything from day to night to holidays, weekends and everything in between. There is no time off for a corrections officer in terms of holidays being closed. You work when they tell you to work.

He Would Be in Danger

Corrections officers have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Could you see Rick Ross in a fight with a prison inmate looking to cause trouble? That’s what he would risk each and every day at work because that’s what happens as an officer who guards those in jail for heinous and terrible crimes.

He Would Make Less than $20 Per Hour

Corrections officers have dangerous jobs, but they’re paid very little. In fact, they make only $38,000 per year give or take a few hundred dollars. His hourly pay would average $18.74, which is just about $750 per week in income; not much for a job that requires so much danger and so many sacrifices.
