When ABC’s The Bachelor premiered in 2002, millions of fans tuned in to watch two dozen women compete for the affection of one man.  While some have criticized the show for being degrading, others find it entertaining and simply can’t turn away.  Now, just ending its 19th season, The Bachelor has become a staple in reality TV.  Over the years, fans have been introduced to countless contestants, several of whom who have left a lasting impression on viewers.  While many have become memorable for all the wrong reasons, others have found a permanent place in the hearts of Bachelor fans everywhere.  Here are our ten favorite The Bachelor contestants in the show’s history.

Gia Allemand

New York native, Gia Allemand, appeared in both season 14 of The Bachelor and the series’ brief two-hour spin-off, Bachelor Pad. Allemand won over many viewers when she attempted to bring all of the girls together and eliminate cliques among the contestants. Although Allemand was in a serious relationship when she signed up to compete in the show, she stood her ground.  Ultimately, her refusal to participate in a kissing content resulted in her elimination.  Sadly, Allemand passed away in 2013 at the age of 29.

Ali Fedotowsky

What’s not to love about Ali Fedotowsky?  She’s smart, pretty, and brave.  Her outgoing personality quickly made her a fan favorite, and resulted in her becoming the star of the following season of The Bachelorette. Fedotowsky also made a bold statement during her time on the 14th season of The Bachelor when she decided to leave when her employer, Facebook, challenged her with an ultimatum.  However, she eventually quit her job so that she could return to TV to star as the bachelorette.

The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert And JP Rosenbaum Celebrate One-Year Anniversary At ME Cancun And Kick-Off DJ Lab Sessions

Ashley Herbert

Ashley Herbert may not have been one of the most exciting contestants during her time on the 15th season of The Bachelor, but her charming personality made her memorable in the long run.  Although Herbert wasn’t chosen as the winner of the show, she ended up winning in the long run.  Herbert was chosen to star on the 7th season of The Bachelorette, is not happily married to J.P. Rosenbaum, a contestant from the show.

Kacie Boguskie

Kacie Boguskie was so well-liked by fans that she actually appeared on two seasons of The Bachelor. Although Boguskie was not chosen as the final contestant on either season, she eventually found love and is now married to record executive, Rusty Gaston.

Jillian Harris

Jillian Harris

It’s not often there are women like Jillian Harris on The Bachelor.  While the show’s contestants often get a bad rap for being immature, rude, and obnoxious, Harris proved to be the opposite.  She was smart, hardworking, and pretty – and as a result, many believed that she should have been given the final rose during The Bachelor’s 13th season.  Although she did not make it to the final episode, she was asked to be the star of the 5th season of The Bachelorette. Since then, Harris has gone on to appear in several other shows including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Love it or List it Vancouver.

Ashley Palenkas

Okay, so Ashley Palenkas was a little on the crazy side.  However, she sure did bring a lot of fun and laughter during her time on The Bachelor.  During the show’s first cocktail party, Palenkas busted out some noteworthy 50 Shades of Grey style moves in an attempt to win over bachelor, Sean Lowe.  Unfortunately, Palenkas’ moves couldn’t save her and she was eliminated from the show.

Catherine Giudici Lowe

‘Winner’ of The Bachelor’s 17th season, Catherine Giudici Lowe beat out all of the other contestants for the affection of bachelor, Sean Lowe.  Although many may see her win as a pointless victory, Lowe handled the competition graciously and is now happily married.

Molly Malaney

Fans were stunned when bachelor, Jason Mesnick, decided he wanted to be with Malaney after selecting another winner. Although many looked down on Malaney for giving Mesnick another chance, she was gracious in accepting the offer without gloating.  In 2009, Malaney and Mesnick married and currently have two children together.

Melissa Rycroft

It was hard not to feel bad for Melissa Rycroft when she was essentially dethroned as the ‘winner’ of the 13th season of The Bachelor.  However, Rycroft handled the situation like a champ, and moved on with her life without dwelling on what could have been.
