The Top Five Jason Aldean Music Videos

Jason Aldean at iHeartRadio Music Festival

Jason Aldean is currently one of country music’s biggest stars.  After years of struggling to break into the music industry, Aldean released his self-titled debut album in July 2005.  The album, which mostly consisted of songs that had already been recorded by other artists, quickly became a hit and helped him earn the title of “Top Male Vocalist” during 2006’s Academy of Country Music Awards.  Since his debut project, Aldean has enjoyed a very successful career and 12 of his singles have achieved number one ranking on various music charts.  Although much of his success is strictly based on the content of his music, many of his songs have spawned successful videos that have given fans another way to connect with Aldean.

Since their rise to popularity in the 80s, music videos have been an integral part of artists’ success and they have given fans a way to see their favorite artists in action without having to spend money on live entertainment.  Videos also give artists a chance to show another creative side while providing fans with different interpretations of their work. Aldean, whose music covers a wide array of subjects, has amassed a diverse collection of videos which have helped breathe new life into some of his most popular songs. Here are five of Jason Aldean’s best music videos.

5. “My Kinda Party”

Jason Aldean’s song, “My Kinda Party,” was an instant hit when it was released in August  2010.  Reviewers said the song was “a raucous, feel-good bit of country that’s absolutely perfect for getting your late summer party poppin’.”  Unfortunately, when the video was released in October, summer was long gone.  However, Aldean still managed to portray the feeling of a warm summer night as the video depicted a concert like party atmosphere while Aldean sings the song’s catchy chorus: “…”I’m chillin’ to some Skynyrd and some old Hank/Lets get this thing started/It’s my kinda party.”

4. “Fly Over States”

Jason Aldean’s “Fly Over States” is an ode to the Midwestern states in the country which often get overlooked except during flights in which they are passed over.  The song was released in 2012 off of Aldean’s album, My Kinda Party.  The video, which was released just a month after the song, is the perfect visual aid.  As he sings, “Take a ride across the badlands/Feel that freedom on your face/Breathe in all that open space/And meet a girl from Amarillo/You’ll understand why god made/You might even wanna plant your stakes/In those fly over states,” Aldean and his band are shown in an airplane graveyard as the camera cuts to various scenes that correlate with the song’s lyrics, including the Badlands of South Dakota and ” a girl from Amarillo.”

3. “Dirt Road Anthem”

“Dirt Road Anthem” is a song that proudly shows off Aldean’s southern roots.  The video, which was shot entirely in black and white filmed around Old Hickory, Tennessee, was released in the summer of 2011.  Although Aldean appears in the video, there are many scenes which show a group of young adults enjoying a nice summer day while Aldean sings, “I’m tired of talkin’ man y’all ain’t listenin’/Them ol’ dirt roads, is what y’all missin’.” Although the song received mixed reviews from critics,”Dirt Road Anthem” has been certified four times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).  It has become the first single by a solo male country artist to earn more than 2 million in digital sales.

2. “Burnin’ It Down”

As the song’s title suggests, the video for “Burnin’ It Down,” brings the heat in more ways than one.  In the video, Aldean and his band perform the song as pyrotechnics light up the background.  The camera also cuts to several scenes of a beautiful dark-haired woman as she prepares for a nice evening at home with her boyfriend.    The video was shot in Nashville, Tennesee, a city which has been nicknamed “Music City” for its history in the music industry.  Aldean’s “Burnin’ it Down” has received many positive reviews, and Country Weekly stated: “Jason proves he can also change things up, which he does dramatically through edgy, urban-and-pop-influenced arrangements and production…the song’s sexy lyrics push the boundaries of what might be construed as traditional themes in country music.”  “Burnin’ It Down” is one of Aldean’s most successful singles, and it received platinum status just nine weeks after its release; making it the fastest single to do so in 2014.

1. “The Truth”

In many of his videos, Aldean is shown performing with his band; however, in “The Truth” he takes a different approach as he gets in front of the camera to display some of the song’s strongest emotions.  As he sings, “Just don’t tell ’em I’ve gone crazy/That I’m still strung out over you/Tell ’em anything you want to/Just don’t tell ’em all the truth/Yeah, don’t tell ’em all the truth,” Aldean is shown riding a bus, presumably away from his problems and the woman he can’t get over.  After getting off the bus, Aldean checks into a motel where he sits by a pool and watches other guests enjoy their time by the water until it starts to rain.  Although everyone else disburses when the rain begins, Aldean remains by the pool where he continues to sing and reveals that he is still in love with the woman in question. The song has become a favorite among fans and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
