The Big Bang Theory Cast Gets a Big Raise

The Bing Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki have a lot to celebrate at the moment. The actors have finalized their contract negotiations and are now slated to pull in a staggering $1 million per episode of the hit CBS comedy. The Big Bang Theory is the number one comedy on CBS, and this news comes on the heels of controversy surrounding the show’s filming schedule.

Actors were supposed to report back to work last week and did not amid reports that they were asking for a raise. Each of the three main characters were making around $300,000 per episode, but asked for a raise. The stars wanted their raise to go up just a bit – to a million dollars an episode. A payday like this hasn’t been seen since the stars of FRIENDS earned $1 million per episode during the show’s final season more than a decade ago.

Cuoco, Parsons and Galecki are now officially the highest paid actors in television. The stars known that they are a cash cow for the network. During one past interview, Cuoco made a comment that people haven’t forgotten.

“I would be lying if I said I couldn’t do Penny with  my eyes closed. It’s’ such second nature to me now. But if I ever do get those moments of, ‘God, this feels the same,’ I just read those articles about how much money I make and think, ‘You know, it’s not so repetitive anymore!’”

The raise is a big one, and it means that the show can, quite literally, go on – just as soon as the rest of the cast finalize their own contract negotiations. Before the contract negotiations are finalized, the actors will not return to set, pushing production later and later. Too much later and the show might not be ready to premier for its 8th season in September. At the moment, both Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are still in negotiations.
