Where Are They Now? The Cast of One Tree Hill

Cast of One Tree Hill

For nearly a decade, One Tree Hill was one of the most popular shows on TV. There’s always something about a cast full of good-looking young people who always draws viewers in, but even with that being said, there was something extra special about One Tree Hill. When the show aired its final episode in 2012, many viewers were saddened to say goodbye to their friends from Tree Hill, but hoped that they’d see their favorite stars again in other movies and shows. However, everyone knows that sometimes spending too much time on one show can unfortunately limit future opportunities. While some cast members have definitely moved on to find success in other productions, others have seemed to vanish from the public eye. Have you ever wondered what happened to some of your old favorites? Here is what happened to the cast of One Tree Hill.

Jackson Brundage

Lee Norris

Lee Norris, known on the show simply as Mouth, became a very well-liked character over the course of the show’s run. Since 2012, he has made very few on-screen appearances. However, he did have a minor role in the film Gone Girl as officer Washington and in 2014, he signed on to reprise his role as Stuart Minkus in the Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World.

James Lafferty

James Lafferty’s portrayal of Nathan Scott took him from obnoxious high school jock to loving father and husband. Throughout the show’s run, he was one of the most popular characters, and fans really loved watching his growth. Unfortunately; however, most fans haven’t seen much of him since the show ended.  Since his days on One Tree Hill, Lafferty has had a few minor TV roles, and also appeared on the big screen in the 2014 film, Oculus.  But there is some good news for One Tree Hill fans, Lafferty is still single!

Bethany Joy Lenz

Bethany Joy Lenz, who played Lafferty’s on-screen love interest turned wife, Haley James-Scott, ended up having one of the most incredible transformations in high school nerd history. During the show, Lenz’ character went from a shy bookworm to a mom and super star magician, interestingly enough, not too far off from Lenz’ real life. Since One Tree Hill’s end Lenz has continued to work on her career as both an actress and a musician. She has released an album and an EP over the last two years. Although she hasn’t had a major role since One Tree Hill, fans were excited when it was announced that she had landed a starring role in the new TV series, The Catch. Sadly, Lenz’ later announced that she had been replaced and would not be appearing on the show. She is also a proud mother of one and has not remarried since her divorce in 2012.

Hilarie Burton

On every high school themed show, there’s always that one character who’s popular and pretends to be caught up in the high school hierarchy, but is really deep and thoughtful. On One Tree Hill, that was Hilarie Burton’s character, Peyton Sawyer. Although Peyton Sawyer was by far one of the most popular characters on the show, Burton chose to leave One Tree Hill before it ended. Since leaving the show after season 6, Burton has been able to find some pretty steady work, although nothing has been as major as her role as Peyton. She’s made appearances in White Collar, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Forever, and currently has a role in the sci-fi series, Extant.. In 2014, she married actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan with whom she has one son.

Sophia Bush

As Tree Hill’s resident ‘hot girl’ Sophia Bush’s character, Brooke Davis, quickly became a pop culture hit.  Like many of the other characters on the show, Davis also underwent a pretty impressive transformation that allowed her to go from mean to mature. Since the show’s end, Bush might be the former One Tree Hill cast member that you’ve seen the most. She currently stars as Det. Erin Lindsay on the new hit show, Chicago P.D. which also means cross over appearances in Chicago Fire and Law and Order. In January 2013, Bush began dating Google programmer, Dan Fredinburg, although the couple split shortly after due to the distance. Sadly, Fredinburg passed away in April of this year after receiving a fatal head injury while trying to climb Mount Everest during the Nepal earthquake.

Chad Michael Murray

Arguably the show’s most popular cast member, Chad Michael Murray was one of the hottest starts on TV during One Tree Hill’s time on the air. Like Hilarie Burton, Murray also chose to leave the show prematurely to take advantage of other opportunities. While he’s been able to find steady work, his role as Lucas Scott still remains his most well-known. These days, Murray is starring in a Crackle exclusive series, Chosen, and has a main role in the ABC superhero series, Agent Carter. In 2015, he married his Chosen co-star, Sarah Roemer, and shortly after, the couple welcomed their first child.
