Gravity and 12 Years as a Slave Win Big at Critics Choice Awards

19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Show

Come on. We all knew it. We knew that Gravity and 12 Years A Slave were gonna be the movies that cleaned up this year at all the awards shows. Usually, The Critics Choice Awards sets the tone for all the award shows that come after. With both films leading the nominations, it was pretty easy to tell they were going to be the clear big winners this year. If The Critics Choice Awards are any indication, these two films are just getting started with their epic win-runs.

Gravity set some records for Critics Choice Awards, winning a record seven. Anyone who saw the film in Imax can completely understand why it won so many. One of the more memorable films of the last decade, for sure. Though 12 Years A Slave did not win nearly as many awards as Gravity, it won Best Picture. Usually, the film that wins Best Picture at the Critics Choice tends to go on and win best picture at the Oscars as well.

So if the Critics Choice Awards is any indication, these two marvelous films are just starting their award season runs, and will be going home with many more awards each before this awards season is over.
