“The Voice,” fans are even more anxious for September to arrive now that the first photo of the new judges panel has been released. The new season of the hit singing competition features some familiar faces as well as some new faces. Country singer Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, veteran judges, welcome to the mix Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani. Pharrell is well-known for his music, most recently his hit song, “Happy,” and his forest ranger hats, and Gwen Stefani needs no introduction. The “No Doubt,” lead singer welcomed her third son earlier this year and she’s going to be busier than ever with her new role as judge.
When the popular show first hit airwaves, there was only one female judge on the panel and that tradition has been maintained every season. Stefani follows the lead of former female judges Christina Aguilera and Shakira. She and Pharrell might be new to the judges panel on the hit show, which features Shelton and Levine as the only original judges on the panel, but this is not the first time the duo has worked together. She and Pharrell worked together back in 2004 on her hit song, “Hollaback Girl,” and Pharrell told the Today Show working with her is “magical”.
Their magic, alongside the close friendship of Levine and Shelton, will be made public come September when the new season of the singing competition airs on NBC. The September 22nd premier is slated to attract former fans of the show as well as new fans thanks to the two new additions. Stefani’s following has been big since she first made it big with No Doubt back in the mid-90s, which producers hope will bring in a whole new set of fans. The 7th season of the hit show is less than three months away.
