Conan O’Brien is an American television host and comic with an estimated net worth of $75 million. He was born on April 18, 1963 in Brookline, Massachusetts. It’s a common misconception that with his name and his Irish good looks that he comes straight from Ireland, but he does not. In fact, he was born and raised in America. His mother is Ruth, an attorney and partner at a prestigious law firm in Boston called Ropes & Gray. His father is Thomas, and he is actually a physician. He’s an epidemiologist as well as a professor of medicine at Harvard University. Conan O’Brien grew up in a very affluent community in a very well-do-do family. However, despite their wealth and good fortune, the family instilled values and hard work in their children.
Throughout his high school career, Conan O’Brien was very involved in his school newspaper as well as interning for local politicians. He loved to write and was always into writing essays and competitive writing. He was, naturally, the valedictorian of his class. He went to Harvard University because he was such an intelligent young man, but probably also because that is where his father teaches. He did not, however, gain special admissions because of that. For a short period of time in college, despite spending most of his time studying and working hard for his degree, he was a drummer in a band. It’s difficult to see Conan O’Brien as a drummer, but he was.
When he graduated from college, he made the big move to Los Angeles. He’d secured a job writing for an HBO show, and he was looking forward to that. It wasn’t until 1988 that Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of a little show called Saturday Night Live, decided to hire a young Conan O’Brien to write for the show. It was the first major show he’d written for, and it was a show that would really showcase his talents. His work was performed by stars such as Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz. He decided to try his hand at writing a pilot for another show, but it was not picked up. He was upset, burned out and decided to quit his job.
That’s when Lisa Kudrow stepped up and helped him out, and dated him. He was offered a job at “The Simpsons” as a writer, which was a job everyone wanted but no one was able to secure. The company simply didn’t hire. However, they hired Conan. He wrote for several years, crediting the show for saving him when he had no plan and no future. That’s when he was offered his own show in 1993. It was a late night talk show set to be filmed at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in NYC, and it did not get good reviews. Of course, he then went on to shot the show until 2009.
Conan O’Brien is one of the most famous talk show hosts in late night of our generation, as well as one of the funniest men around and the best writers in the business. He will continue to grow his substantial net worth and continue to impress the world.
