That’s what I’ll be answering for you, because these are 12 celebrities who have the most popular Twitter accounts—so you might want to jump on the bandwagon and start following them in hopes of a retweet.

11. Cristiano Ronaldo, Athlete

With more than 24 million followers, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has proven to be the most-followed athlete on the planet when it comes to his Twitter account. Although I’m guessing a lot of those followers aren’t necessarily soccer fans, but girls who just want to hope he posts a picture of himself looking svelt without a shirt on, the numbers don’t lie that he’s the most popular on the social site.

10. Ellen Degeneres, TV Personality

What hasn’t TV personality Ellen Degeneres done in her career? She’s set a now popular trend of speaking up about gay rights, coming out herself in the ’90s. Has gone from a popular TV show to her own talk show. And has—and will again this year—host the Oscars. With all that on her resume, it’s no wonder that over 25 million people like to keep up with the comedian.

9. Jennifer Lopez, Musician/Actor

It’s been a long journey for “Jenny from the Block,” who has been able to maintain a career in both acting and recording to propel herself among the most intriguing women in entertainment.  And while it’s still a bit surprising to see Jennifer Lopez crack the top-10 here with over 26 million followers to her social account, it speaks volumes to just how successful and impactful her career has been.

8. Justin Timberlake, Musician/Actor

It’s amazing to see just how much Justin Timberlake has expanded his brand over the years, going from a boy band member in NSYNC, to a guy who is part owner of an NBA team and becoming a talent that no one has ever seen before. Whether it’s from his hilarious bits with friend Jimmy Fallon or promoting his musical tour, more than 30 million people do their best in keeping up with what’s going on in his life.

For all those out there who don’t already follow musician Rihanna on Twitter, not only are you missing the boat because more than 34 million people already do, but you’re missing out on some serious entertainment. RiRi often tweets pics of herself on the beach in bikinis and doing things that will seriously leave you wondering just how amazing her life really is. Some might consider this comes off as bragging. 6. Britney Spears, Musician

Want to know how much of an impact Britney Spears has had over the course of her career? Look no further than her Twitter account, which, even though she hasn’t done much lately, still carries the power of nearly 36 million followers.  This one might be the most surprising to find on this list, but she is Britney, so maybe it’s naive of me to be as shocked as I am by her being in the top-10.

5. Taylor Swift, Musician

Say what you want to about the poppy country singer, but Taylor Swift certainly knows how to real in Twitter followers—as evidenced by the more than 39 million that do so. Swift is both glamorous, talented and, in her own way, entertaining, and she uses those traits to help give her followers and inside look at what’s going on in her life—as annoying as it might come across to those who dislike her.

One of the most outlandish personalities in pop culture, Lady Gaga has proven that whatever she’s doing is certainly working, gathering more than 41 million followers on Twitter.  As we’ve all seen before with Gaga, she’s not shy about her opinion or outfit choices, so it’s clear why so many people are intrigued with what’s going on in her life. 3. Barack Obama, Politician

In all honesty, I’m happy to see that the world gives enough of a darn to follow the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, because it proves that people care a little bit about what’s going on in the world. With over 41 million followers, the President of the U.S.A. is unique in that he’s the first President to utilize the social platform for everyone around the world to see what’s happening in D.C.

2. Justin Bieber, Musician

Sure, Canadian singer Justin Bieber has seen a fair share of trouble over the course of his career, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t still intrigued by the kid.  Proof of that is shown with his over 49 million Twitter followers, who, as we all know, call themselves “Beliebers.  What they “beliebe” in is still a mystery to me. But if it’s in reading what their favorite pop star has to say, than they seem to be doing a good job of that.
