The Kanye West Quote that Changed Bruce Jenner’s Life

5th Annual George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic To Benefit The Lopez Foundation

Recently, ABC aired a long-awaited interview between Bruce Jenner and Diane Sawyer, in which Jenner opened up about his personal life and his past.  During the interview, Jenner took Sawyer and the rest of the country on a painstaking journey throughout his life as a confused man looking to find the answer to his internal struggle.  As many were expecting, Jenner revealed that he is transgender, and is on his way to transitioning into the female he’s always been on the inside.  Jenner, who has six biological children, and has also helped raise the four Kardashian children, also talked about his struggle to reveal his secret to those closest to him.

Throughout this whole ordeal, the public has been very interested in knowing what the Kardashians, mainly Kim, thought of his transition. He told Sawyer that while his children were mostly accepting, some had a difficult time understanding his situation.  He also shared a very touching story about Kim’s reaction, saying she has come a long way on her journey to acceptance – thanks to a very unlikely source: Kanye West.  According to Jenner, Kanye, who has felt with acceptance issues of his own, explained the situation to Kim in this very simple quote: “Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, they don’t mean anything.” It looks like Mr. West really isn’t as bad as he seems.

Since then, Kim has been extremely supportive of her step-father, and has even offered to give him some of her expert fashion advice.  After all, as a part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, he’s going to have some pretty stiff competition.
