Last night’s Emmy Awards marked the event’s 66th annual show. The show, which honors the best in prime time TV, was broadcast from Los Angeles, California and hosted by Seth Meyers.  Over the years some of TVs most memorable figures have been awards a prestigious Emmy award, and last night was no different with some of today’s best, including Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and Modern Family’s Ty Burrell joining the ranks.  Like any other award show, the Emmys were filled with lots of memorable and wonderful moments – some that have even made their way into today’s headlines.  Here is a list of the Emmy’s five best moments.

5. HBO’s Normal Heart Wins

HBO’s film, which told the story of AIDS activists during the 80’s took home the award lest night for Best TV Film; the film is an adaptation of writer Larry Kramer’s 1985 play which also won a Tony Award.  In his acceptance speech, director Ryan Murphy paid homage to “the hundreds of thousands of artists who passed away from HIV AIDS in 1981.”

4. Weird Al’s Parody

Parody actor/singer/songwriter Weird Al Yankovic, best known for his remakes of some of music’s biggest hits, took the stage at the Emmys to act out a parody of some of TV’s biggest shows including Mad Men and  HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones.  During his comedic reenactment of Game of Thrones, Weird Al presented author the series, George R. R. Martin with a typewriter and insisted that he “type faster.”

3. Host Seth Meyers Makes Fun of Justin Bieber

While singer Justin Bieber is very popular amongst teenage girls, the rest of the world seems to find him troublesome and annoying.  Last night during the show’s opening, Emmy host Seth Meyers, made a joke about Canada’s finest, Justin Bieber, saying: “Cable is looking at Netflix the way Justin Bieber looks at One Direction: through a cloud”…..you know the rest.

2. Bryan Cranston and Julia Louis-Dreyfus Kiss

When Veep actress, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her third consecutive Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy; Breaking Bad star, Bryan Cranston greeted her with a kiss on the lips.  The kiss came after the two previously discussed working together on the popular series Seinfeld in which the two shared a kiss.  It was hilarious.

1. Robin Williams Tribute

When actor/comedian Robert Williams passed away earlier this month the entire world was in disbelief. Some of his close friends, who had no idea that their funny friend was battling depression, were shocked to hear he had taken his own life.  Last night’s Emmy Awards took the time to honor the late star with Billy Crystal providing some personal memories with Williams.  Crystal, who struggled to keep his voice steady, said that not only was Williams “the brightest star in a comedy galaxy,” but he was also “the greatest friend you could ever imagine.”
