The reviews may have been horrible. Everyone and their uncle knew how painfully bad Sharknado was but Syfy isn’t ignoring how much of a response their was in the social media world. As we mentioned the day after Sharknado hit the airwaves, celebrities were going nuts tweeting about the movie that featured a bunch of sharks swept up in a Tornado terrorizing a town (that included Tara Reid who was the movie’s star). The basic tagline was “so bad it’s good.”
So what has Syfy done? They have officially greenlighted a sequel to Sharknado that starred Tara Reid and Ian Ziering. The first movie involved sharks invading Los Angeles. Rumor has it the sequel or prequel (execs haven’t decided yet) will involve The Big Apple getting done in with a shark tornado. One of the big guns at Syfy said:
“What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”
Both Tara Reid and Ian Ziering said they would be up for a sequel. Was there any chance, any chance at all that they WOULDN’T be down to do another movie about sharks in a tornado terrorizing a city? Of course not!
