AFI Associates Honors Arquette Family With Award - Event

After his recent announcement regarding his sexual identity, Bruce Jenner and his story have been all over the place.  After officially revealing that he is currently undergoing a transition from male to female, Jenner has gotten a lot of feedback from the media.  While some believe that Jenner’s big reveal was nothing more than a publicity stunt, other’s have commended his bravery and honesty.  However, even those who accept Bruce, have a hard time making the connection between the Olympic athletic and the person that he has become today.  With such an interesting story, there’s a good possibility that it may one day find its way onto the big screen.  Here are 10 men who should play Bruce Jenner in a movie.

 Clay Aiken

Former American Idol contestant, turned actor, turned politician would be a great person to bring Bruce Jenner to life on-screen.  Although Aiken may not be the most experienced actor in the business, there’s a good chance that his own struggles with sexuality and self acceptance could really help him connect to Bruce’s story.

Russell Brand

Okay, so it’s kind of hard to image Russell Brand competing in a decathlon, but hey, that’s why they call it acting.  Although he may seem like an unlikely candidate for the role, there’s something about Russell Brand that just might make him the perfect person to pull this off.  Plus, it would be nice to see him take on something serious and meaningful for a change.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is an incredibly talent and versatile actor who has taken on several very different types of roles throughout his career.  His work in the 2005 film, Broke Back Mountain, in which he portrayed a gay cow-boy, proves that Gyllenhaal isn’t afraid to take on any role – even if others may see it as controversial.

Steven Tyler

Steven Tyler has very little acting experience, in fact, most of his on-screen roles have just been cameo appearances as himself.  However, he already has the hair ready to go, and a movie role might be a nice change of pace for Tyler, and a chance for his fans to see him in a completely different light.

Ireland native, Cillian Murphy, has a pretty successful career over the last two decades.  Muprhy seems to handle all of his roles with seriousness and care, and it would be nice to see him give that effort to a role as Bruce Jenner

Johnny Depp

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" Press Conference - 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Over the course of his career, Johnny Depp has proven that there isn’t a role that he can’t portray.  No matter what type of character he is brought on to be, Depp is always once of the most convincing actors on the screen. Johnny Depp’s ability to pay great attention to detail could really work in a complex role like that of Bruce Jenner.  Depp seems like the type of actor who would really dedicate himself to studying Bruce and his habits.

James Franco

Premiere Of Tribeca Film's "Palo Alto" - Red Carpet

James Franco seems to love pushing the boundaries of sexual identity and self-expression, so he’d probably be totally down to star as Bruce Jenner.  Franco has also had to deal with his sexuality being questioned over the years, and those experiences may give him a special inside connection to Jenner.

Zac Efron

"At Any Price" Photocall - The 69th Venice Film Festival

Zac Efron may be a little young to play Bruce Jenner as an adult, but he could be a pretty convincing Bruce, especially during his athletic years.  Although Efron has had a pretty successful career, and has been able to transition from a child star to an adult star, he has yet to have that one defining break out role as an adult.  A role as serious and relevant as Bruce Jenner could certainly help Efron’s career.

Jared Leto

The Hollywood Reporter's Annual Nominees Night Party

In 2013, Jared Leto portrayed an HIV positive trans woman in the film Dallas Buyers Club. Although many praised his performance, many in the trans community were not impressed with his work, and did not feel that he deserved to win an Oscar for the role.  Perhaps a role as Bruce Jenner could be the perfect opportunity for Leto to redeem himself.

Alexis Arquette

As a fellow trans woman, Alexis Arquette, has a better understanding of Bruce Jenner and his struggle than most people. In fact, Arquette documented her transition in a film that was released at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007.  As a professional actress, Arquette would be the perfect person to play Bruce Jenner as he undergoes his transition.
