Daisy Ridley Confirms Talks about Starring in Lara Croft Reboot

Chances are very likely that if you were relatively unknown  or didn’t have much fame before you starred in a new Star Wars movie that you might get some attention after the movie is released.  Such has been the case for Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega (though I’m a little surprised that Adam Driver doesn’t get more attention,  I guess because he’s in Girls he’s already considered kind of big?).  Fans have taken to the two young stars and their careers are currently on a nice upward trajectory.

“Star Wars: the Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley has confirmed that she is in talks to star in a reboot of the “Tomb Raider” franchise. Ridley would take on the role of daredevil archaeologist Lara Croft previously played on the big screen by Angelina Jolie.

The actress told the Hollywood Reporter that there “have been conversations” about the project but that she hasn’t been offered the role yet. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” she said. She also added that the video game adaptation does not yet have a script.

Fans are currently a mixed bag when it comes to the Lara Croft franchise.  Many don’t want there to be any reboot though that’s certainly not going to phase any Hollywood execs.  If they think Tomb Raider will bring in money, they will be making the movie.  And given the box office success of the Angelina Jolie starred Croft movies, the likelihood of a reboot is very high.

As to whether or not Ridley gets the role,  that’s a different question.
