10 Celebrities Who are Borderline Certifiably Insane

In this crazy world, it can be hard for anyone to stay sane.  With all of the pressure that most people are under on a daily basis, it can be easy to feel like things are spiraling out of control.  For most people, these feelings are private, and more importantly, temporary.  For celebrities; however, the pressure of being famous combined with the pressure of every day life can sometimes be too much.  In fact, there are some celebrities who actually seem legitimately crazy.  Even their closest fans can’t deny the fact that something seems to be a little off with these people. Although some of these people are worse of than others, here are 10 celebrities who are borderline certifiably insane.

Opening Night Of Guns N' Roses' Second Residency At The Joint

Nicolas Cage is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, but he could also be one of the most insane.  Apparently, Cage has a habit of buying strange things including a dinosaur skull (what?!) and shrunken pigmy heads. Sure, blowing money on random stuff is something that’s common among celebrities, but rich or not, some of those purchases definitely make his mental state questionable.

Mel Gibson

First of all, Mel Gibson always seems mad at the world – which is a problem in itself. For years, many people have questioned Mel Gibson’s mental state.  Over the course of his career, Gibson has said several bizarre – and sometimes offensive – things.  Almost every time Gibson opens his mouth, something bizarre is guaranteed to fly out. It’s been speculated that he does suffer from sort of mental health issue, and although it hasn’t been confirmed – there are plenty of people who believe the proof is simply in the pudding.

Charlie Sheen

There’s no denying that Charlie Sheen is a very talented – and funny – actor.  However, there’s also no denying the fact that he might actually be insane.  A few years ago when he had his very public melt down and was fired from Two and a Half Men many people really felt like he had lost it for good.  With all the talk of being a warlock and “winning,” it was clear that he definitely had some screws loose.  Although he seems to have gotten back on track, many people think it’s only a matter of time before he does something strange again.

Courtney Love

During the 90s, Courtney Love made her mark on the music scene as the lead singer of the band, Hole.  She also became well-known for her relationship and subsequent marriage to rock star, Kurt Cobain.  However, despite her skill and legendary status in the music industry, Love also has a pretty crazy history. Over the last several years especially, Love has had some pretty bizarre outbursts via social media and her relationship with her daughter has completely fallen to pieces.

Alec Baldwin

Sometimes it’s not clear whether or not Alec Baldwin is crazy or just clueless.  Over the course of his career, he’s said and done some pretty off-the-wall things, including calling his daughter “a rude, thoughtless little pig.”  Baldwin has also flown off the handle on several other occasions including during a run in with East Hampton police last year.

Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke seemed cool at first, but in 2014 it became clear that he might not be the guy everyone thought he was.  When his relationship with now ex-wife, Paula Patton, began to fall apart, Thicke seemed like much more than a man trying to win his wife back – he actually seemed a little crazy.  Although it was clear (to everyone but him) that their relationship was over, Thicke insisted on writing an entire album in Patton’s honor which ended up not only flopping, but failing to win her back.

Lindsay Lohan

As a child, Lindsay Lohan was one of Disney’s biggest stars. She appeared in several popular Disney movies and was one of the most well-known young stars of the early 2000s.  However, once she reached adulthood, things seemed to change for Lohan and her career began to go downhill.  Around 2006, it was publicized that she was suffering from substance abuse issues, and the following year she was arrested for driving under the influence. Now off of probation, her fans hope that she will be able to turn things around.

Shia LaBeouf

'Nymphomaniac Volume I (long version)' Premiere - 64th Berlinale International Film Festival

Anyone who shows up to an event with a paper bag covering their face probably has some serious issues.  After transitioning from a child TV star to an adult movie star, LaBeouf was definitely doing his thing in front of the camera.  However, almost out of the blue it seemed like he slowly started to lose his mine. In 2005, he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, and things were just down hill from there. Between his car accident and the plagiarism accusations LaBeouf definitely has people wondering what – or if – he’s thinking.

Amanda Bynes

Premiere of DreamWork's "She's the Man" - Arrivals

If you grew up in the late 90s/early 2000s, you probably remember Amanda Bynes from Nickelodeon’s All That, and her spin-off series, The Amanda Show.  Bynes was funny, cute, talented, and the possibilities for her career seemed to be endless. In the summer of 2010, Bynes announced that she was retiring from acting, and that’s when things started getting weird.  In the following years, Bynes has definitely seemed to go off the deep end.  Not only has she had run ins with the law, but she’s also made several strange accusations including stating that someone had placed a microchip in her brain.
