Since Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta debuted in 2012, Joseline Hernandez has been one of the show’s most popular characters. Although she can often be reckless and over-the-top, viewers were drawn to her one liners and tough attitude. Her story line with her now ‘husband,’ music producer, Stevie J, has also helped to make Joseline even more entertaining. Recently, the show entered its fourth season, and while there have been some changes in the cast, Joseline has come back better than ever. Only time will tell what this season has in story, but where Joseline is concerned, there will probably be a whole lot of drama. Here are five things you didn’t know about Joseline Hernandez.
1. She isn’t a man.
Since Joseline joined the cased of Love & Hip Hop, there’s been rumors floating around that she used to be a man. Joseline addressed these rumors head on and stated: “I am 100% woman. I’m clearly perfect cause that’s the only ya’ll can say since I air my dirty laundry on TV.”
2. She used to be an exotic dancer.
Before rising to reality TV superstardom, Joseline worked as an exotic dancer. According to some sources, she began dancing at just 16 in order to help support her family.
3. She’s a criminal.
In 2007, Joseline was arrested under the name Shenellica Bettencourt on charges of “lewd and lascivious behavior.” While her criminal past may not be that big of a surprise, it did reveal that she’s most likely been lying about her age by at least 10 years.
4. She’s being sued by a former cast member.
During last season’s Love & Hip Hop reunion, Joseline attacked fellow cast member, Althea Heart. The two had been having trouble all season and the tension finally reached a boiling point while they were on stage together. According to reports, Althea is currently in the process of suing Joseline for the incident.
5. She’s admitted to acting for the show.
In the wake of her law suit, Joseline admitted that much of the ‘reality’ show is actually scripted, and that in most cases the cast members are just following the orders that have been laid out for them.
