Kate Gosselin’s Short Hair Is Immortalized on Twitter

The 2009 Women's Conference - Day 1 - Long Beach, California

When Kate Gosselin entered the spotlight in 2007, she quickly became a fan favorite as viewers everywhere tuned in weekly to watch Gosselin and then husband, Jon, raise their children on the popular reality series, Jon and Kate Plus 8.  The show ran from 2007 until the couple’s divorce in 2009, and throughout that two year period, Kate Gosselin went from a relatively unknown mother of eight to a fashion forward single mother.  Suddenly, Gosselin was one of the most popular reality television stars, and her interesting half mullet- half bob hairstyle became the focal point of fan’s obsessions. “The Kate,”as it was aptly named, was one of the most talked about hairstyles of 2009.  Although the media (and Kate Gosselin) tried to convince the public that the hairstyle was in high demand, many people just weren’t feeling “The Kate.”

A wig of hairstyle even became one of the most popular Halloween costume items of 2009.  Advertisements for the wig stated that it had the power to “make people think you have eight children.” But even with millions of haters, Gosselin, proudly defended the hairstyle during an interview stated “it’s my attitude! Everybody wants it. It’s work.”

Fortunately, times have changed and “The Kate” now refers to the Kate, the Duchess of Middleton (whose hair is fabulous), and Gosselin has ditched her version of “The Kate” and opted for a longer style.

However, Kate Gosselin’s infamous short hair lives on thanks to the internet and an @KatesHair Twitter page whose bio simply states “hair today gone tomorrow.”  While the page and it’s tweets may be old, the jokes certainly are not and their presence just goes to show that hindsight really is 20/20.  Here are the best tweets from Kate Gosselin’s hair.

Unlike a typical mullet, which is ‘party in the front, business in the back,’ Gosselin’s “reverse mullet” takes it up a notch with it’s dominating do.

Split ups and split ends are probably two life’s most difficult pills to swallow.

Even with a ridiculous hairstyle, there’s always something to be thankful for.

Anyone who has owned a TV any time over the last several years probably remember seeing an informercial on Bump-It, a hair product/accessory that promises to add volume to hair.  Fortunately, Bump-Its never really took off, and neither did Kate Gosselin’s “reverse mullet.”

Not even motherhood matters when your hair looks nice, unless of course, your hair doesn’t actually look nice.
