10 Celebrities Who Dated Their On-Screen Sibling

62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Romantic relationships can form in a lot of ways.  Sometimes, when you spend a lot of time with someone, it can be easy to catch feelings for them.  With that being said, it’s not uncommon for actors and actresses to form relationships with working together on set.  However, for fans, some of the relationships can seem a bit strange – especially when stars begin to date one of their on-screen siblings.  Of course they’re not actually related in real life, but for fans who are used to seeing celebrities play roles, it can be a little creepy to see two people who you view as siblings become romantic partners.  While some of these relationships don’t last beyond shooting – others have gotten pretty serious.  Here are 10 celebrities who dated their on-screen siblings.

Selena Gomez and David Hernie

In 2014, rumors began circulating that Selena Gomez and her former on-screen brother, David Henrie began dating.  The two played siblings on Wizards of Waverly Place, and many fans were excited to see the two connect on another level.  Although there was never much news about the state of their relationship, a source closed to the pair said that Selena really trusts David.

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter

The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Fans loved the on-screen chemistry between Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter on the hit series Dexter.  Apparently, the couple’s chemistry at work turned into a real life romance, and they began dating in 2007. A year later they decided to tie the knot after eloping.  Although they looked great together – and many held out hope that they would last – the couple just couldn’t seem to make things work.  Their divorce was completed in 2011, after they had been separated for “some time.”  During the divorce proceedings, Carpenter was very emotional and stated, “Our marriage didn’t look like anyone else’s, and our divorce didn’t either, so…I said it before, just because the marriage ended doesn’t mean the love did.” Awkwardly enough, the show didn’t end for another two years, requiring them to work together even after the divorce.  However, Carpenter said there was “nothing but respect” between her and Hall.

Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey

Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey played brother and sister in the classic 80s film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  However, that ironically isn’t what made their relationship so well-known.  In 1987 while driving through Northern Ireland, the couple was involved in a serious car accident which resulted in two women losing their lives.  Although Broderick and Grey received relatively minor injuries, Grey said that the accident has had a lasting impact.  During an interview she stated, “I became America’s sweetheart within five days of the accident. The juxtaposition of that deep sorrow, the survivor’s guilt, and then being celebrated as the new big thing just didn’t jibe. It didn’t feel good to be the toast of the town.”

Mauren McCormick and Barry Williams

The Brady Bunch was one of the most popular shows during the 70s.  With the portrayal of a blended family, the show was definitely ahead of its time, and quickly drew fans in with its combination of humor and family life.  However, even if The Brady Bunch’s concept was cutting edge – in a lot of ways, the show was still clean-cut and traditional – which is why it got a little weird when Maureen McCormick (Marcia) and Barry Williams (Greg) started dating. Apparently, the two sparked a little romance while shooting episodes in Hawaii, and according to McCormick, “It was our first kiss, and it was long, passionate and deep…a tiny part, admittedly – said to myself, `Oh my God! I’m kissing my brother. What am I doing?”

Playing siblings on Parenthood didn’t stop Lauren Graham and Peter Krause from falling in love. The couple began dating in 2010, and has been together ever since.  According to Graham, “We are really happy,” Graham gushed of Krause, 48. “I feel like close to five years in Hollywood, its like, aren’t we married already really? It’s good the way it is.”  She’s definitely got a point, five years in Hollywood is close to a lifetime.

Unlike most of these on-screen sibling romances, Shane West and Evan Rachel Wood didn’t began dating until after they were done working together. In 2009, the couple was spotted together sharing a few kisses and rumors began circulating that they had entered a relationship. Not only did Shannen Doherty and Jason Priestly play siblings on Beverly Hills, 90210 – they were twins!  However, that didn’t stop them from sparking up a little off screen romance. Sadly, things didn’t go well and over the years it has seemed like there’s been some bad blood between the two.  Priestly has openly spoken about Doherty’s attitude, which has a reputation of it’s own, and she’s also been accused of dissing Priestly.
