Everyone is entitled to believe in whatever they choose.  However, there are some beliefs that are much harder to understand than others.  Typically, these strange beliefs are associated with people who are also often viewed as strange.  Unfortunately, these people tend to be looked down upon. However, some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry have proven that strange beliefs are not specific to any group of people.  Whether it be believing in legendary monsters, or believing that aliens have walked the earth, some celebrities have no shame in expressing their unpopular opinions.  Here are 10 celebrities you didn’t know had wacky beliefs.

Shirley MacLaine

Shirley MacLaine is one of the most legendary stars of her generation. However, despite her level of popularity, MacLaine has some strange beliefs that even her fans can’t seem to understand. According to her daughter, MacLaine once believed that her daughter’s father, Steve Parker, was actually a clone of an astronaut named Paul.  Other sources have reported that MacLaine also believes that her dog was once an Egyptian god, and that she has witnessed UFOs while relaxing in her hot tub.

Several years ago, Tom Cruise made headlines for his affiliation with the church of Scientology.  To many, Scientology itself is based on extremely wacky beliefs including the idea that people are born with hidden abilities that can only be realized through spiritual growth.  As a result, many have been critical of Cruise’s diehard belief in Scientology and several people have created websites dedicated to keeping track of Cruise’s strange behavior and beliefs.

It is not uncommon for people to be slightly superstitious.  However, while most people are aware of superstitions, they don’t allow them to control their lives.  Missy Elliot, on the other hand, has an incredibly strong belief in the idea that crossing paths with a black cat is bad luck.  During an interview, Missy stated: “If a black cat walks in my path, I will immediately turn around and go home, even if I am on my way somewhere.”

The Clintons made a shocking revelation when it was revealed that Hilary believed that she could speak to the ghost of former first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. While many found this strange, Bill Clinton seemed to believe that his wife actually had the ability to communicate with the dead.  During a dedication speech in 2012, former president Clinton stated: “…as all of you famously learned when I served as president, my wife, now the secretary of state, was known to commune with Eleanor on a regular basis. And so she called me last night on her way home from Peru to remind me to say that. That Eleanor had talked to her and reminded her that I should say that.”

Megan Fox is serious when it comes to her belief that Big Foot is alive and well.  According to sources, Fox firmly believes that she has what it takes to capture the mysterious furry creature.  In an interview with People Magazine, Fox stated: “”Bigfoot’s real. And I have confidence in myself that if I were ever to be taken out on an expedition … I would be the one to find Bigfoot.” Fox has also expressed a belief in leprechauns and during an interview she stated: “I believe in all of these Irish myths, like leprechauns. Not the pot of gold, not the Lucky Charms leprechauns. But maybe was there something in the traditional sense? I believe that this stuff came from somewhere other than people’s imaginations.”

To many people, believing that there is life on other planets really isn’t strange at all.  However, Fran Drescher, best-known for her role on the hit sitcom, The Nanny, has taken things a bit further.  According to sources, Drescher believes that she was actually abducted by aliens. In fact, she believes that both she and her ex husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, were abducted and somehow programmed to meet each other.  During an interview she stated: “I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It’s the exact same scar on the exact same spot.”

Courtney Love is no stranger to being in the middle of weird situations.  Over the years, Love has become just as well-known for her antics as she has for her talent.  When Malaysian flight 370 went missing in March 2014, the entire world was saddened and stunned by the loss of the aircraft and all of its passengers.  Love; however, insisted that she knew where the plan was located.  To prove her point, Love posted a series of tweets and images explaining her theory, but quickly added that she was not an “expert” on the topic.  Unfortunately, the plane has still not been located.

In 2012, Kesha shocked fans when she shared that she believed that she had had sexual relations with a ghost.  According to Kesha: “I’ve got a song called ‘Supernatural’, that song was about having sex with a ghost. I lived in this flop house at Rural Canyon and there was this weird energy that lived there, and it used to keep me at night and wake me up. And it progressed into this dark, sexual spirit…It did scare me but that’s part of the fun of it.” All we can do is hope that Kesha and her ghostly lover used some sort of protection.

Award-winning singer, Lady Gaga, may be engaged now but for years she believed that engaging in sex would deplete her of her creative energy.  In 2010, Gaga said that she feared that her creativity could be stolen through her private parts. Although this belief does seem a little strange, the fact that Gaga hasn’t released a hit in quite some time certainly raises some suspicion.
