10 Celebrities Who Mistakenly Got Tattoos of Their Exes
For many people, the only thing that says ‘I love you and want to be with you forever’ besides actually saying it, is a tattoo. A permanent etching of ink that is meant to stay on a person’s skin forever. In recent years, there seems to be an increasing trend in people who are willing to take the step of getting a tattooing honor of the person they are dating (at the time). This seemingly permanent gesture can include tattoos of symbols, names, or even pictures that have to do with the person’s significant other. However, as most people know, almost everything in life is subject to change at a moment’s notice, and many people are left regretting their tattoos at the end of a relationship. Unfortunately for celebrities whose every move is scrutinized under the spotlight, the decision to get a tattoo for a significant other can often lead to years of criticism and shame. Although there are now ways to fade and remove tattoos, thanks to the internet, no celebrities bad tattoo is ever really gone for good. Here are 10 celebrities’ who mistakenly got tattoos of their exes.
10. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards
During their marriage, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards both decided to show their commitment to their life-long partnership by getting tattoos of each other’s names. However, when the couple divorced in 2006, the tattoos proved to be more permanent than their relationship. Sheen, who married actress/socialite, Brooke Mueller, in 2008 was the first to alter his tattoo by removing it at the request of his new bride. Richards quickly followed by having the “Charlie” on her ankle turned into a pretty butterfly.

9. Angelina Jolie
Before Angelina Jolie was Brad Pitt’s girl, she was briefly married to actor Billy Bob Thornton. The two married in 2000, after two months of dating, and Jolie quickly got caught up in the whirlwind romance. To show her dedication to Thornton, Jolie tattooed his name across her left arm. Unfortunately, the tattoo lasted longer than their marriage, and the couple separated in 2002; divorcing the following year. Jolie has since removed the tattoo, and there is no lasting evidence of her relationship with Thornton.

8. Rob Kardashian and Adrienne Bailon
In 2007, reality TV star Rob Kardashian began dating former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon. The couple’s relationship was the focal point of Kardashian’s story line on the hit series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. During an episode of the show, the couple was seen getting tattoos of each other’s names. However, the couple split in 2009 as a result of Kardashian’s infidelity, and several years later, Bailon announced that she was “excited” to finally get the tattoo removed. During the summer of 2014, Bailon underwent procedures to have the tattoo permanently erased.
7. Heidi Klum
When supermodel Heidi Klum married award-winning musician, Seal, married in 2005, the couple decided to get tattoos commemorating their union. Klum’s tattoo, which included stars representing her children’s names, was a symbol of family and eternal love. However, after seven years of marriage, Klum and Seal divorced in 2012. Just a year after their divorce, Klum announced that she had already began procedures to remove the tattoo of her ex hubby’s name.

6. Eva Longoria
For four years, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were one of the most talked about celebrity couples. During their marriage, Longoria got a tattoo of Parker’s NBA number (nine) on the back of neck. However, when the couple divorced in 2011, Longoria, was left with a permanent reminder of her failed marriage. Longoria scrambled to get the tattoo removed, and after several failed attempts she had finally made progress by the summer of 2012.
5. Marc Anthony
In 2014, many fans were shocked with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez ended their decade long marriage. The couple, who welcomed twins in February 2008 seemed like they were on track to defy the odds of celebrity relationships. When things went south, Marc Anthony was left to decide what to about the tattoo of Lopez’ name he’d gotten on his wrist. However, Marc Anthony wasted no time replacing his “Jennifer” tattoo with a similar tribute to his new girlfriend Shannon De Lima.

4. Johnny Depp
Nothing lasts forever, and actor Johnny Depp learned that the hard way after his split from actress, Winona Ryder. During their three-year engagement, Depp had the words “Winona Forever” tattooed on his arm; however, when they decided to call it quits, Depp had the tattoo changed to say “Wino Forever.”

After a recent flood of Instagram pictures, fans and followers were minded that Rose was still sporting a tattoo of her ex husband, Wiz Khalifa’s face. The tattoo, which features Khalifa’s signature smile, is one of Rose’s many tattoos. Although the couple divorced in 2014, Rose has not spoken out on what she plans to do with the tattoo.

2. Tom Arnold
In a desperate effort to save his relationship with his now ex-wife, Rosanne Bar, actor/comedian Tom Arnold decided to tattoo Rosanne’s famous face on his chest. Unfortunately, the tattoo did not save his marriage, and Arnold has since admitted that getting the tattoo was a “dumb” idea. During an interview, Arnold said that he regretted the tattoo almost instantly, and began procedures to get it removed after Rosanne filed for divorce in 1984.

Nick Cannon’s tattoo in honor of his now ex-wife Mariah Carey, made almost as many headlines as he did when he announced that the couple was separated. Although Cannon also announced via Twitter that he would love Carey forever, the tattoo, which was Carey’s name spread across Cannon’s back, was quickly covered up by an image of the crucifixion of Jesus.
