Hollywood is an industry that is very focused on looks.  It is no secret that the best, and most approachable, looking people often find the most success.  However, there are many stars who simply don’t fit into the traditional mold.  Although their looks may not be as conventional as some of their contemporaries, they have still managed to find success, and their looks have often helped them find their niche within the industry. While many people would have let their looks deter them from pursuing a career in the spotlight, these people have found a way to use it to their advantage.  Here are 10 celebrities who have a reputation of looking evil.

 Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart has a nice smile, but unfortunately she doesn’t let it show too often.  For some reason, Stewart is often photographed looking mean and sullen.  Unfortunately, this has resulted in many people making judgements about Stewart based on her series of unpleasant faces.

Tim Curry

Actor, Tim Curry, has been in the industry since the late 1960s.  Although he has portrayed a wide array of characters over the course of his career, Curry is often best-remembered for the villains he has brought to life.  Although his skill has certainly played a huge part in his landing the roles, there’s no denying that Curry’s looks have lent themselves to a certain type of character.

Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci is best-known for her role in dark films.  Even as a child actress, Ricci appeared in films such as Casper and The Addams Family.  Over the years, Ricci’s appearance has molded itself to fit the type of roles she most often plays. While there’s no denying that Ricci is a good-looking young women, there’s also no denying the fact that she often looks a little on the creepy side.

Martin Short

Even with a bright smile on his face, there is something slight evil-looking about Martin Short. However, slightly off-putting looks have not seemed to cause any problems for short, who has had a very successful career since making his on-screen debut in 1979.  Over the course of his career, Short has received several accolades including both an Emmy and Tony Award.

William Dafoe

William Dafoe is one of the most popular villains in Hollywood. Throughout his career, his sinister facial expressions have made him the perfect person to portray evil characters.  While most people would be offended by being told that they look evil, Dafoe seems to embrace his looks.  During an interview, he stated: “It’s true in the beginning I started playing villains. If you don’t conventionally look a certain way and you’ve got a certain kind of presence when you’re young, then what’s available to you is character roles, and the best character roles when you’re young tend to be villains.” In another interview, Dafoe went on to say, “I guess they often cast me as the bad guy, because I’m not, er, conventional looking. I look sort of violent. I’m the odd one out, the outsider.” However, Dafoe also noted that his personal life does not resemble that of his characters on-screen.

Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson has always been a rather bizarre public figure. The singer/songwriter who reached the height of his popularity during the 90s, is well-known for his over the top style choices which often include makeup and dark clothing. Over the years, Manson’s behavior has caused people to believe that he’s been involved with devil worship, and Manson has done nothing but feed off the rumors and use them to help cultivate his public image.

Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken is another actor whose appearance lends itself to a certain type of role.  Throughout his career, Walken has often been cast as some of the most evil characters to every grace the screen.  Although Walken’s appearance can be startling, it is certainly memorable.  Walken has even been quoted saying: “I don’t need to be made to look evil. I can do that on my own.”

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson is well-known for his role in the 1980 film, The Shining.  Even those who have not seen the film may be familiar with the image of Nicholson’s face as he delivers the famous line, “Here’s Johnny!” Although Nicholson has been fortunate enough to play a wide array of characters, viewers can’t ignore that there is something permanently dark engrained into Nicholson’s face.
