10 Predictions About Melissa Rivers Appearing on Fashion Police
Melissa Rivers has never been a stranger to adversity nor is she the type of woman scared of a challenge, and that’s certainly something that will benefit her when it comes to taking a position with Fashion Police on E! The producer and daughter of the late Joan Rivers has agreed to take a stand and step up alongside Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski to critique the looks of Hollywood stars in a humorous and good-natured manner. Rivers is taking over after the untimely death of her mother, Joan Rivers, last year and the controversy surrounding the departures of both Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne earlier in the year. The show as in limbo for quite some time without any real direction, but it’ll be back later this summer with Rivers in the hot seat.
So now that the comedian and producers is going to be in front of the camera, what can we expect from the upcoming season of the hit show? Our predictions might surprise you.
Big Viewing Numbers
Our guess is that there will be a lot of people tuning in to see if the daughter of the beloved and late Joan Rivers can live up to her mother’s reputation as being hilarious and just condescending enough not to sound rude. It could go either way with that one, but we definitely foresee a lot of people watching the show to see what they can get out of Rivers. Call it curiosity.
More Comedy
This time around we expect to see a bit more comedy in the show. Rather than high tensions as we saw most recently before Rancic mentioned Zendaya for the 10th time and Griffin and Osbourne left the show, we think that the network is going to try and make it a bit funnier this time around. Can’t say we hate that one, either.
Less Criticism
Our expectations include a bit less criticism as far as being hurtful goes. There is probably going to be a lot more politically correct discussion going on and a lot less in the personal digs department. We can’t say that we blame the show, either, after what happened at the Oscars with Zendaya and her hair.
A Different Angle
This is not a show that features Joan Rivers anymore, and that’s probably why people are so disappointed with it. There is a lot of expectation, and people need to let that go. Rivers is not her mother, and that means that she is not going to try and be her mother. What she is going to do is be herself, and she’s already admitted that she’s done some soul-searching to figure out who she really is without her mother in her life.
Giuliana Rancic will Tone it Down a Bit
For good reason, we think that Rancic is going to tone down her opinions this season. Not that there is anything wrong with having an opinion, but we live in a crazy world where people get offended and networks want to make people happy. Additionally, the writers of her jokes are probably going to steer clear of anything even remotely sexist, racist or any other ‘ist’ when she’s speaking.
Criticism from Former Panelists
There might be one or two former panelists (we aren’t going to be tacky and name any names) that might have a thing or two to stay about the show once it comes back. It’ll probably be a lot of, “The show should have died with Joan,” in a manner not meant to sound as offensive as I am aware that it looks in that sentence. The point is that people will criticize because that is their overwhelming nature.
A lot of Joan Rivers
Even though she’s not there, she’s there. Her daughter is taking her spot, and that means we’re going to hear about her and probably see a lot of her in her daughter. That is probably not unwelcome, either. It’s no big secret that the world misses Rivers and that she’s someone who has made her mark on the world. She’s there in her daughter. You can see it in her face and hear it in her words, and she might be just the refreshing take that the show needs to succeed once again. Don’t be surprised if she rocks her new job and makes the world fall madly in love with her. Apparently it runs in the family.
A lot of Caitlyn Jenner
Let’s face it; she’s the most fashionable and trendy thing in the world right now. Whatever Caitlyn wears, the world loves. So we expect to see that there is a lot of discussion surrounding how she looks and how other women wish they looked as good as she does in a pair of skinny jeans and knee-high boots. Can’t say that it seems like the worst thing in the world, either.
A lot Less Controversy
At this point in the show’s life, there will be less controversy. No one will be calling anyone any names or doing anything that could even remotely be misconstrued as inappropriate. There is just not room in the shelf life of this show for anything of that nature, and it’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Unfortunately for some, that will be a negative. Fortunately for others, this is going to be a positive.
A Surprise
Our final prediction is that the new season is going to surprise everyone. I think that most people expect that the show will flounder and fail, and that this is the network’s last attempt to breathe life into a dying entity. But I think that the inclusion of Melissa Rivers is going to do wonders for the show, and it’s going to change the face of Fashion Police in a way that other people are not expecting. She’s not her mother and she’s not looking to become her mother, but the world does enjoy her, too. And that might prove a very successful addition for the show.
