10 Sets of Co-Stars Who Completely Hated Each Other
It never fails to surprise us when our favorite on-screen characters are not really friends in real life. Remember when it was announced that Katherine Heigl did not get along well with just about anyone on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy” despite the fact that they all seemed like the best of friends? That’s good acting, you know. It’s just shocking to realize that not everyone gets along, even when they’re making out and acting like the best of friends an hour a week – or however often their show airs. Celebrities are not always the best of friends, even when that is exactly what they do on television is act like the best of friends. Some of them are so good at their job that we have no idea they are mortal enemies in real life – perhaps that’s a tad dramatic, but isn’t that part of the job? Read on to find out 10 sets of co-stars that cannot stand one another in real life.
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling
For a couple that dated for a very long time in real life, they did not get along well on the set of “The Notebook” according to the people on set with them. The rumors that they were not friendly and that they bickered and fought constantly were rampant in those days, and it was a huge shock to the people that worked with them on the film when they went on to date for so long after the movie.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall
We love them as Carrie and Samantha on Sex and the City, but it’s true that the pair did not get along all the time in real life. While their drama wasn’t always so apparent, it did seem that the two fought more than usual when filming their movies. It was alleged that Cattrall was mad that Parker makes more money than the rest of the actresses – though the show was about her and she is the main character – and Parker admitted that sometimes people end up with hurt feelings and that their onscreen friendship is far better than their off-screen friendship. What a shame.
Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey
When these two filmed “Dirty Dancing,” it was said that the late Swayze did not care much for his co-star. He stated that she was very emotional and very silly and that he found her behavior very unprofessional. Whether or not the two ended up making up seems to be something that did happen, as she’s always had nothing but nice things to say about him in the press in recent years. Of course, with his illness and subsequent death, it would make sense she would forgive and forget their differences in the past.
Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross
When these two spent nearly a decade together filming Desperate Housewives, it was not because they were such good pals, like they played on the show. Apparently no one really got along with Hatcher during this series, but it was she and Cross that argued the most and disliked one another to the point that they were hostile.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes
Remember when they played Romeo and Juliet? It appears that they were more star-crossed off-screen than on. She couldn’t stand him if the rumors are true. Apparently he’s a bit too fun-loving for her taste, and it upset her that he goofed off so much on the set of their movie. She steered clear of him as often as she could.
Naya Rivera and Lea Michele
These two spent five years together filming Glee, and it’s reported that the reason Rivera’s character was written off the series was because Michele did not like her in real life. We don’t know if this is true or not, but it’s been said a few times that Michele is a bit of a diva and that she’s a little bit of a drama queen who likes to get her way.
Lucy Liu and Bill Murray
Word on the street when “Charlie’s Angels” was being filmed is that these two mostly did not get along. It allegedly all started when Murray told Liu she could not act, which did not exactly sit well with her. If you’re wondering why he was not back for the sequel, that could be your answer right there. I don’t know either of them, but Bill Murray did hold the elevator for my husband and I once when we were staying the same hotel and he seemed pretty nice back then.
Will Smith and Janet Hubert
Did anyone else notice that Aunt Viv became a completely different woman a few years after filming began on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air? Someone made the decision to fire the actress that played Aunt Viv and replace her with another actress, and she claims it is because Will Smith did not like her and had her fire. Well, she actually said that he’s an egomaniac and she would never come near him and do a sequel or a spinoff or a reunion.
Josh Hartnett and Harrison Ford
When these two filmed “Hollywood Homicide” in 2003, they did not get along. The people on set claimed that they wouldn’t look at one another and that they would fight when the cameras were not rolling. Apparently, they also did that during their promotional tours, driving everyone completely nuts with their bickering and childish behaviors.
Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray
These two met on the set of One Tree Hill and then they fell in love. And then they got married. And then they fell out of love. And then they got a divorce. They were married for all of five months when rumors began to circulate that the actor cheated on his wife, and they were pretty much confirmed when she filed for divorce. They had to continue to film together, however, and that was often awkward and weird considering their split was allegedly not very amicable.
