There are some couples who just make sense.  When you see them together, you couldn’t imagine either person with anyone else, and their relationship seems to really make them complete.  However, there are some couples who are just flat-out confusing.  Although they genuinely seem to be interested in each other, there’s something about their relationship that’s odd.  In the celebrity world, these couples come around pretty frequently.  In a fast paced world full that is constantly changing, it’s no surprise that celebrities often end up with people who seem to be their complete opposite.  But as the old saying goes, ‘opposites attract’ and sometimes these bizarre couples make it all the way down the aisle.  Here are the 10 weirdest celebrity marriages ever.

In 2015, it’s hard to picture Sean Penn and Madonna as an item, but during the 80s – they were totally a thing. In fact, Madonna’s third album was dedicated to Penn and referred to him as, “the coolest guy in the universe.” However, their relationship was very rocky and both Penn and Madonna made a habit of lashing out at the press while they were together.  Eventually, this turned into domestic violence and the couple divorced in 1989 after four years of marriage.

Before Angelina Jolie was half the humanitarian power couple, Brangelina, she was married to Billy Bob Thornton.  Now, it’s hard to picture Angelina with anyone but Brad Pitt, but especially with Billy Bob Thornton.  But apparently, they thought their marriage was just as bizarre as the rest of the world.  During an interview, Thornton opened up about what it was like to be married to Jolie, and stated, “I mean it was a crazy time. I’ve never been fond of it.”

Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley were a very interesting couple, and even back in 2000 they definitely didn’t seem like a match made in heaven.  Sure, they’re both good-looking, and talented – but there’s just something about them as a couple that doesn’t never sat right with fans.  After four years of marriage, the couple called it quits – and it didn’t take long for Garner to connect with her current husband, Ben Affleck, whom she married a year later.  During an interview, Garner even stated that she and Foley, “didn’t have a shot.”

If you were a Tom Green fan in the early 2000s, then you’ll know that Tom Green marrying anyone would’ve seemed weird.   During an appearance on Saturday Night Live, a stage was set in order for the couple to be married; however, Barrymore apparently got cold feet and left Green hanging.  Although the couple did eventually wed, their marriage only lasted a year.

Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett are both success in their respective fields, but other than that – they don’t really seem to have much in common. With their 10 year age difference, and very different fan bases – it was definitely a little strange to see them together. However, Lovett’s marriage to Roberts definitely helped him gain popularity, and they remained friends after their less than two-year marriage. Apparently, opposites don’t always attract.

If you weren’t alive to see it, you probably wouldn’t even believe that Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers were ever mattered.  But thanks to the Internet, evidence never dies.  The couple wed back in 1976 before Cruise was the superstar that the world knows today, but between their age difference and difference of opinions,  led to their divorce in 1990.

With a more than 10 year age difference, it’s hard to see why Cindy Crawford would have wanted to settle down when she was in her prime during the 90s.  However, despite the indicators that their relationship wouldn’t work – the two decided to marry in 1991. After just four years, they divorced – and Crawford has since opened up and stated that she believes their age difference was the caused for their failed marriage.  According to Crawford, “I just think your twenties, for women, is such a time when you’re starting to come into your own and feel your own power and connect to your inner strength, and it’s hard to do that — it’s hard to change — in a relationship, because what one person might have signed up for, all of a sudden, you’re not that anymore.”

Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney’s relationship was extremely odd from start to finish.  Just four months after their marriage in 2005, the couple filed for annulment and Zellweger cited “fraud” as the cause. She later explained that the word “fraud” was a legal term and not actually a reflection of the type of person that Chesney is.  However, it definitely still had people wondering what exactly went down – legal terminology or not – calling someone a fraud is never a good thing.
