12 Celebrities Who Love to Use Craigslist
Craigslist is one of the most famous, controversial and loved ways for people to buy and sell things they need. Unlike sites such as eBay, Craigslist allows people to get online and look for things they need, post ads for things that they are looking for and even look for friendship or love. The site does have some downfalls, as it’s commonly known some people are looking for nothing more than trouble when they get on Craigslist to shop. However, there are very few of these instances. It just seems that we hear more about the negatives than we do about the positives.
Craigslist is not just for people who cannot afford to buy things full price in stores. It’s for everyone. Not everyone wants to pay a lot of money for things they know they can get for a deal on this website, which is what makes it so popular. In fact, there are a number of celebrities that love to use the site, and make it a point to use the site to purchase things that they want or need. Some even sell things on Craigslist. You don’t hear about it very often, but there are some celebs who are very happy to talk about their love of Craigslist.

Jessica Alba
The star once admitted that she has a problem shopping on Craigslist. In fact, she says she bought a hot pink desk from the site to use in her personal home office, and she loves it. She said in a past interview that she loves the site because it allows her to find vintage pieces that people no longer want because they’re not in good condition. She likes to pick them up for next to nothing and turn around and refurbish them and then use them in her gorgeous home as amazing décor. She’s given several interviews in the past few years in which she’s discussed her love of Craigslist and her decorating habits. She’s also shown off photos of her home, which is impeccable. She loves the site because it allows her to make unique finds that are perfect for the look she’s going for at home. Alba is a prime example that you need not be involved in spending tons of money simply to decorate a house the way you think it needs to be decorated.

Robert Pattinson
The “Twilight” actor is very wealthy, but he’s not all that extravagant when it comes to his shopping habits. In fact, he once admitted to a late night talk show host that he buys just about everything he owns on Craigslist. He even bought his car on Craigslist. And no, he does not drive a Ferrari or some other upscale ride. He bought at 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup truck from Craigslist sellers for a whopping $2,500. This, of course, might be shocking to some considering he also admitted that he has no driver license and no intention of getting one. He’s been seen out and about on numerous occasions driving his truck around Hollywood and Los Angeles, and still admitting that he has no license. He was most famously caught on camera driving this truck when he was moving out of the home he shared with his ex-girlfriend, actress Kristen Stewart in the wake of her admitting to cheating on the actor.

Tina Fey
Word has it that the hilarious actress uses Craigslist quite often to find what she needs and shop for what she doesn’t need but suddenly wants. The most elaborate thing that the actress has used Craigslist for is people. That’s correct; people. But not to worry. She’s not using the site for any illicit reasons. She’s simply looking to find cast members for her productions. It just goes to show that you don’t need to have some big audition or serious way of tracking down extras for parts. There was a time in which it was much more difficult to find people that fit the part of an extra in a film or show. Now it’s as easy as posting a short ad on Craigslist. What we don’t know is whether or not she uses the site more often than just looking for extras.

Amy Poehler
She’s a lot like Tina Fey in that they work together often and they even look for cast members for their productions together on Craiglist. She’s credited with using the site often to shop, but she most famously used it at one time to find extras in a production she and Fey were filming together in New York. They are working on a film together this year that needed some manicurists as extras, so the two took to Craigslist to find some for their work. After reading the ad that was posted for an extra or two for her and Fey’s production, we assume that Poehler did not do the writing. It wasn’t funny enough to have her name all over it, but it’s still her ad and she still posted it to Craigslist.

Bristol Palin
She’s the daughter of politician Sarah Palin, and she was a teenage mother. She’s a bit older now, and she’s making her way in life with her son, Tripp. She decided, however, to recently sell her 2010 Dodge Challenger, and she felt there was no better place to sell her car than on Craigslist. We don’t know if anyone purchased the car and if they did what they purchased it for or how that meeting went. However, she did list her car for sale along with a little note that she loves Craigslist and uses it all the time. Some people that use the site regularly did not believe that it was the real Bristol Palin listing her car for sale, so she took to the internet to post a photo of herself and her son posing next to the vehicle so that people would finally believe that it was her car that was for sale.

John Travolta
You don’t necessarily have to sell things on Craigslist if you want to use the site. You can look for things that are for sale or post ads for things you want people to sell you. A few years back, John Travolota used the site to find himself a new personal massage therapist on the website. Of course, there is a small chance that this is a fake ad since it couldn’t be verified. However, many people believed that it was John Travolta, so we are going with it until someone says something to the contrary. There is speculation that he does use the site regularly, especially since it’s been said by the Church of Scientology that he’s recommended to them using the site to post personal ads for other famous members of the church who are in need of new wives.

Whitney Port
The former The Hills reality star uses Craigslist fairly often. She is known to use the site to find vintage finds and pieces for her New York apartment, and she’s likely using the site to find things for her upcoming wedding as well. She’s also used the site to rent her New York apartment, and it did not take long for people to realize that the place they saw online was hers after they recognized it from her reality show. We don’t know if the apartment rented, but we do know that she didn’t try to advertise it as her own. It simply was not hard to tell given the fact that her home appeared numerous times on her hit reality show. It’s also unknown why she was posting it for rent. All we can do is speculate that perhaps she and her new fiance are moving into something a little larger or in a different location.

Ellen DeGeneres
She doesn’t just use the site for one or two things, the famous talk show host and comedian uses the site to find things she does not need so that she can use them on her show. She’s famously answered a number of Craigslist ads that have been so out-of-this-world and crazy that her viewers got a huge laugh out of it. What we love about her is that she not only uses the site to find the craziest items from the craziest ads, she also uses the site to find ads that just make you laugh hysterically so that she can read them to her viewers on her television show for good old-fashioned entertainment.

Courtney Love
The former Hole singer was in need of someone to play the bass at one of her concerts, and so she decided to place an ad on Craigslist. Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t able to actually find anyone to answer her ad in a positive light. She said in an interview at one point that she placed her ad thinking that many women would respond to her requests but that by the time she removed her ad, only one woman had responded to her in hopes of becoming her new bassist. She did not end up finding what she needed on the site, which she felt was a disappointment. She said in an interview that she thought she’d have loads of new female bassists to choose from and when she didn’t, she didn’t understand what the issue was with her ad.

Jake Gyllenhaal
The famous actor does use Craigslist, but it’s not what you think it’s for. He’s not looking to buy or sell anything, but he is taking advantage of the site for one of his new movie roles. The actor posted a photo of himself using his characters name in an ad looking for full-time employment over the summer. The ad is for his new movie, and it’s something that made a lot of people do a double take when he posted the ad in July. It might not be considered a “real” ad from the actor, but it’s there, it’s him and he authorized it. To us, that makes it a real ad and a real use of Craigslist. We can expect to see the real use of this page in the upcoming months when the project he was working on at this time is finally released.

Tom Cruise
We don’t know for certain if the actor himself loves to use Craigslist, but we do know that his church does. The Church of Scientology apparently did not love the fact that Katie Holmes left the actor, so they decided to place an ad on Craigslist to help find the actor a new wife. The church apparently has used personal ads in the past to find spouses for its most prominent members, but they’ve allegedly decided that Craigslist is the better choice. They’d like to find an ‘ordinary’ woman for the actor to begin dating and eventually marry, and they’d like to find her on Craigslist. The idea, apparently, came from Cruise’s good friend and fellow Scientologist John Travolta. At the moment, he’s not remarried so we just don’t know if this particular ad worked out.

Portia De Rossi
She’s not someone who loves to use Craigslist for herself. She likes to use it with her wife, Ellen DeGeneres. The couple likes to search for hilarious things to use on Ellen’s talk show, but the talk show host has said on numerous occasions that they’ve used the site to find things for their farm and for their various homes. We don’t know what exactly, other than specific hilarious items she’s used on television and spoken about finding online with her wife, but we still think that it’s hilarious!
