Avril Lavigne Net Worth
Avril Lavigne is a Canadian singer and songwriter with an estimated net worth of $50 million. She was born on September 27, 1984 in Ontario, Canada. Her parents are of many different nationalities, so she is technically a bit French, English, Scottish and German. Her name means April in French, and it was chosen by her father. She does have a French passport of her own, too, thanks to her father’s heritage. When she was only 2-years-old, she sang a song called “Jesus Loves Me,” for her parents and they recognized right away that their daughter was quite talented. It did not take them very long to decide that they needed to get her into the business in some way, shape or form even when she was only a toddler.
She is the middle of three children, with an older brother and a younger sister. Both of them used to make fun of her for singing because it annoyed them. However, they’re not laughing now. Her family moved when she was only 5, and that was when she became serious about her singing. She was not a great student and she was constantly kicked out of class for being rebellious, for not paying attention and for not doing what she was supposed to be doing. Her parents recognized that their daughter’s way of life was not the one that many other kids have, so they began to really support her desire to become a singer.
She sang in karaoke competitions, she did state fairs, and she always sang music that was from country singers such as Garth Brooks and even Shania Twain – which is a huge departure from the punk rock music she is so famous for singing. It was when she was a teenager that she began writing her own music, too, and it was good. In 1999, Avril Lavigne won a competition that allowed her to perform with Shania Twain. It was less than a year after that she was immediately signed with Arista Records by LA Reid to do two albums. She was already fitting in quite well with the skater clique at school but she hated learning, so her parents let her leave school and sing.
By 2002 she was the first singer with three top 10 singles from her debut album, and people were in love with her punk rock music. She was an overnight success and her life would change forever after that. Every song she released was more famous than the last, and she was instantly famous; she hasn’t given up yet either. She was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and has taken a step back from her music to deal with her health issues, however, but she still sings when her health permits.
Her personal life has always been a bit of a complicated affair. She was married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley for three years from 2006 to 2009. She then married Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger. They were married for two years before they announced their separation in 2015. As of 2016, it is rumored she is dating Ryan Cabrera.
