The Most Expensive Celebrity Bar Tabs of All-Time

Being a wealthy celebrity means several things; one, you can buy just about anything you want. Two, you don’t have to look at price tags quite like you would if you were, well, you. And three, everything you do from this point forward is pretty much public knowledge. Forget to wash your hands leaving a Saks Fifth Avenue bathroom? That’s going to be in the news in about an hour. Everything you do when you are wealthy and famous is public knowledge. And everything you spend is pretty much public knowledge if someone is willing to discuss it; and people are always willing to discuss celebs. That’s why when you spend your money, spend it freely. After all, you probably already contributed substantially to savings and retirement, and you probably live well below your means (because we don’t know any celebs that live above their means and lose it all or anything). But just remember this; when you drop serious cash at the bar on cocktails for you and your entourage, the rest of the world is going to know about it and probably assume you are a raging alcoholic – or that you’re trying to buy your friends by plying them with booze and trying to make them like you (and who wouldn’t want to be your friend in a situation such as this?).

Mark Cuban – $110,000

Considering he is by far the wealthiest man on this list, it makes it seem a little bit funny that he’s the man with the smallest bar tab and the biggest reason to celebrate. However, he apparently likes to keep his billions in tact by not spending them (if you can count a bar tab this high as ‘budget’ spending). We all know him as a businessman, television personality and as the owner of the Mavericks. Well, when the team won their first championship since, well, ever, the boss man himself decided to take the team out to a Miami club and celebrate. He kept the bar open much longer than it should have been open, and he decided to add a generous $20,000 tip to his $90,000 tab. But we’re going to be honest here and say that while a tip that nice was more than generous, his wealth could have afforded him more. Men poorer than him have spent more on tips.

Zac Efron – $135,000

This one is quite interesting, especially when you consider the fact that Efron doesn’t exactly seem like the hard partying kind of guy who is quite wealthy enough to spend this much money at a bar. I mean, he’s successful, but he’s not Jay-Z successful. But even though his bar tab was this high, he didn’t pay it. he was merely out and about one night when the son of a Russian billionaire saw him and decided to send over a $100,000 bottle of champagne as well as many more drinks. He then decided to tip the waitress more than $20,000, which was pretty generous in and of itself. Efron apparently appreciated the gesture as he accepted it and drank throughout the evening with his own group.

LeBron James – $170,000

When you’re rich and famous, people want to take advantage of the fact that you’re paying the bill. That’s why all these stars rack up tabs such as this one. Fortunately, James is a famous basketball player who can afford to splurge every once in a while on a bar tab that costs as much as a starter home, but whatever. When he took his friends to Vegas and decided a night at the XS Nightclub was in order, he spent a bundle. And most of that was on $1800 bottles of Cristal (33 of them, to be precise) as well as 5 bottles of Patron Magnum, which cost around $3k a bottle. But someone in the group wanted something else, including Bud Light and a lot of water.

Drake – $189,000

When Lil Wayne was released from prison (that one time? multiple times? How many times?), artist Drake decided it was worth a trip to Las Vegas to do a little drinking and splurging with the guys. In fact, they drank so much that the bar tab was one of the highest ever recorded in the area. Unfortunately, we don’t know what the tip was for the wait staff that night, but we do know that the group was happy with more than 50 bottles of Grey Goose and more than a dozen bottles of decadent Dom Perignon.

 Miami Heat – $200,000

When the team won the finals in 2012, the team decided to head over to the famous Fontainebleu Hotel to visit the club in the hotel. That’s where they dropped cool 200 grand just to enjoy the night with some serious alcohol present. What they purchased included a lot of alcohol and even a performance by LMFAO, you know, so they could party rock all night long with an unscheduled performance by the group. The party started around the time most of us are getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and it lasted well into the following day.

Jay-Z – $250,000

When in Rome….except he was in Miami and even though I’m born, raised and spent my entire life living in Florida, I do not know anyone willing to drop a quarter million at a bar. I mean, we could do it if we had to, but we don’t. And we wouldn’t. The husband of Beyonce and rapper extraordinaire felt the need to celebrate for no particular reason other than he collaborated on an album that Kanye West dropped one week, so he treated some of his friends to a night of cocktails at a Miami club to the tune of a quarter million dollars. It included one bottle of champagne that, by itself, cost $100,000. But not to worry; he left a 25% tip on his $200,000 bill, which brought the grand total to $250,000.
