Five Celebrities Who Refuse to Attend the Met Gala
The Met Gala is arguably one of the biggest nights for both fashion and fame. Each year, the world’s biggest stars come to New York City to attend the gala, which raises money for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Although the event is essentially for a good cause, most of the focus has been places on who’s in attendance and what they’re wearing. While most celebrities wouldn’t dare miss the event, others have decided that it’s simply not at the top of their priority list. Some missed the event due to prior engagements, and others simply did not feel like going. Here are five celebrities who refuse to attend the Met Gala.
1. Gwyneth Paltrow
Since 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow has had something against attending the Met Gala. During an interview that year she stated: “I’m never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all.” Although that statement makes it pretty clear that no one should expect to ever see her at a Met Gala again, many people were still shocked when she didn’t show up. Instead, Paltrow decided to spend some quality time with her daughter, Apple.
2. Blake Lively
Apparently, Blake Lively was too busy working on films to attend the Met Gala this year, and she let it be known early on that she wouldn’t be attending.

3. Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart didn’t show up at the Met Gala, and many people believe it’s because her ex-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, was there with his new girlfriend, FKA Twigs. However, a source close to Stewart stated: “Kristen would have attended the Met Ball if she didn’t already have another commitment. Rob going with Tahliah (FKA twigs) would not have stopped her at all. She’s made peace with the past and has moved on.”

4. Taylor Swift
It’s hard to imagine any sort of celebrity event these days taking place without T. Swift. Seriously, it seems like she’s been everywhere recently. However, this year she had to miss out on the Met Gala because of her 1989 tour.

5. Gisele Bundchen
This year, Gisele Bundchen had a choice to make, and the Met Gala lost. Instead, Bundchen attended a Chanel event in South Korea.
