Over the last several years, Reality TV moms have been taking over the airwaves. Of course, mothers are an essential part of almost everyone’s life. Regardless of a person’s age, they’re never too old to seek advice from their mothers. So it really comes as no surprise that several moms have found their way into the spotlight. However, in a lot of cases, these mothers actually end up being the ones who could use a little advice. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss’, mother, Mama Joyce, is no different. Since the beginning of her time as a guest cast member on RHOA, Mama Joyce has attracted attention from a lot of fans. Here are five things you didn’t know about Mama Joyce.
1. She always speaks her mind.
Like most mother’s, Mama Joyce has no problem speaking her mind. However, sometimes she takes things a little bit too far. On several occasions throughout her time on the show, she has spoken openly about her disdain for her daughter’s relationship with her husband.
2. She isn’t afraid to admit when she’s wrong.
After years of talking smack, Mama Joyce has recently apologized to her daughter’s husband, Todd Tucker. Mama Joyce stated: “”If I’ve done something or said something to offend you, I am sorry,” and she also apologized for some of the disrespectful things she said about Tucker’s mother, who passed away in 2014. However, despite her efforts to mend the relationship, Tucker says that he does not believe her apology is genuine.
3. She loves spending her daughter’s money.
Many RHOA viewers feel that Mama Joyce is nothing more than an opportunity. Well apparently, she does enjoy spending her daughter’s money. Kandi has bought her mother not one, but two houses, and Mama Joyce does not seem to mind one bit. Although Mama Joyce may not always ask Kandi directly, she has subtle ways of letting her daughter know that she wants something. Ironically; however, Mama Joyce has also accused Kandi’s husband of trying to take her money.
4. She doesn’t back down from a fight.
Sure, Mama Joyce has no problem saying what she feels, but she also has no problem throwing hands she necessary. In 2014, Mama Joyce and Sharon (Todd’s mother) let [almost] things go to blows after a heated argument. Fortunately, they were pulled apart before things really got physical.
5. She loves her daughter.
Despite her strange, and sometimes obnoxious behavior, Mama Joyce really does love her daughter. At the end of the day, there’s nothing better than a mother’s love.
