‘Friends’ 20th Reunion – The Ladies’ Best Hair Looks
It’s hard to believe but the sitcom Friends turned 20 years old this week. The show premiered on September 22, 1994, and in the show’s ten seasons, the world fell in love with siblings Monica and Ross and their besties Chandler, Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe.
By the time the show ended in 2004, viewers had grown up alongside their favorite television buddies. We watched the characters grow as adults, fall in and out of love, cope with death and heartbreak. More importantly, we laughed at their delightful jokes for ten whole years, as the show was consistently one of the best, most humorous, and well-written shows on television during its airing and in TV history in general.
People change a lot in ten years, both emotionally and physically. Throughout the seasons, the characters’ looks altered, some more drastically than others. Let’s look back at some of the ladies best hairstyles (since theirs changed a lot more than the those of the guys). And no, the famous “Rachel” haircut didn’t make the list.
Rachel/Jennifer Aniston
Season 4 (1997)
Rachel began to grow out her famously layered do in the third season. By the following season, it was even a tad bit longer and was totally sexy and feminine, making every woman want pretty straight hair with face framing shorter pieces.
Season 6 (1999)
Rachel was single and mingling this season (hello, Bruce Willis!) and her super long, straight hair was both sexy and girl-next-door.
Season 7 (2000)
Just perfect in every way. A bit shorter than the previous season and just all around the perfect cut.
That same season, they chopped off Jennifer’s hair, making Rachel look elegant and a bit more sophisticated. This was the ultimate gorgeous short, layered do. Completely perfect!
Season 8 (2001)
Rachel’s short do growing out looked awesome on her. Crisp and clean.
Season 10 (2003)
Rachel added pretty bangs to her straight, straight hair for the show’s last season.
Monica/Courtney Cox
Season 5 (1998)
This was the season Monica started to grow out her short, short hairdo. And it was a great decision indeed!
Season 7 (2000)
Courtney’s hair looked wavy and perfectly tousled and the added length was very flattering.
Phoebe/Lisa Kudrow
Season 7 (2000)
Phoebe’s look diverted the least of the three leading ladies. But in the seventh season, her hair looked well-tailored and pretty in a straight blunted cut.
Season 9 (2002)
Phoebe added great bangs in this season, which gave her a fun, retro vibe.
Season 10 (2003)
Phoebe finished the series with great pin straight, long, (still) super blonde hair with grown out bangs pushed to the side.
