‘Full House’ May Return to TV

Anyone who grew up in the the late 80s and 90s will be more than happy to hear that there have been talks of reviving the hit sitcom, Full House which originally aired from 1987 to 1995.  John Stamos, better known to full house fans as Uncle Jesse, who has recently spoken on a possible remake of the show said that people affialted with the show are “working on a twist on a sequel.” Now recent reports have stated that the show’s creator, Jeff Franklin, is currently working on a follow up which may include some of the shows original cast members including, Candace Cameron Burr (D.J. Tanner), Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler), and Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner).

During Full House’s original run it was one of the most popular shows on air, usually ranking in the top 25, and even doing so during its final season. The show focused on the Tanner family; after his wife’s passing (she was never seen on the show), Danny Tanner, who was the father of three small girls sought help in raising them.  The girls’ maternal uncle, Jesse, and Danny’s best friend, Joey, decided they would move into the Tanner family home and help raise the girls.  Throughout the series the family deals with an array of issues – all while maintaining a good sense of humor.

While the show has been cancelled for almost 20 years, reruns still air regularly and according to Nick at Nite, the show’s number of viewers is up 7% from last year.  With the revival of fellow former ABC TGIF powerhouse, Boy Meets World, now seems like the perfect time to bring a millennial version of Tanner family to TV. The cast has also been vocal about a possible comeback for the show and have kept the show’s name afloat in conversations during their TV appearances.  In January Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier (Joey) reunited on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed a skit which included Joey’s well known Full House puppet, Mr. Woodchuck.

Only time will tell if a revamped version of Full House will ever hit the airwaves, but thanks to syndication, old fans and new fans alike can still enjoy the Tanner family we all know and love.
