George Clooney Chosen to Accept the Cecil B. DeMille Award
It’s always a nice feeling to go into an awards show prior to awards season knowing you’re taking home at least one trophy. That’s what life is like right now for George Clooney, who will go into the award season in the new year with one guaranteed win; the Cecil B. DeMille Award. He will be honored with the award on January 11, 2015 at the Golden Globes.
It was announced Monday by the Foreign Press Association that the handsome actor will be the honoree for this award at the Golden Globes for his incredible impact in the business. The award is given out each year to someone that the world finds has made “an incredible impact on the world of entertainment,” and this year it’s Clooney. His decades-long career has been successful, and the roles he plays have run the gamut from hilarious to serious to award-winning.
Theo Kingma, the association president, specified that Clooney has been chosen as the recipient for the award based on his performances in front of the camera in addition to his humanitarian work, which has led him to become one of the most famous – and generous – faces in the world. Over the course of his career, Clooney has received two Oscars for his outstanding performances and he’s also won three Golden Globes – this will make his fourth. He’s also been recognized for his selfless acts of kindness, such as helping the atrocities in Darfur and taking part in the Help Haiti campaign following the earthquake that devastated the region in 2010.
While Clooney could not be reached for comment, we imagine he’s feeling pretty good about life at the moment. He’s set to marry British lawyer Amul Alamuddin any day now, and now he’s been chosen for this amazing honor at the Golden Globes.
