George Clooney and Fiance Will Wed Soon

Wedding bells will be ringing soon for the world’s most eligible-no-more bachelor, George Clooney and his new fiancé, Amal Alamuddin. To all the naysayers who assumed Clooney and Alamuddin would have the world’s longest engagement-turned-messy-breakup in three years time, it’s not going to happen (the longest engagement, that is). The couple picked up a very important piece of paper recently in London; their marriage license.

According to United Kingdom law, all citizens will have their marriage license information posted publicly, and Clooney and Alamuddin’s notice was posted outside the Chelsea Old Town Hall with an announcement of their intention to marry in Italy. It should come as no surprise that the couple will wed in Italy given the amount of time they’ve been spending in the romantic country, and the fact that even their mothers are spending quality time together there.

Clooney is a serial dater, known for entering into high-profile relationships with young actresses and models for what always manages to be around three years before the relationship fizzles and he moves on. This time, however, it is different. The couple haven’t been together a year yet, and he asked her to marry him in April.

“I’m marrying up,” he told Variety about Amal. She’s not like any of his previous girlfriends. She’s got a career of her own and an impressive education. The 36-year-old Alamuddin is a star attorney in London, where she lives and works. She has no intention, according to sources, of giving up her hard-earned career just because she’s with Clooney.

Now that the couple has officially picked up their marriage license, it’s only a matter of time before they become husband and wife somewhere in Italy. Other details surrounding the beautiful couple’s big day remain very secretive, with only speculation to tell us what Amal will wear, who will be in attendance and when the wedding will take place.
