It’s Impossible to Dislike Ed Sheeran and Here’s Why

Singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran, rose to fame in 2012 after his debut EP caught the attention of music industry heavyweight, Elton John.  Since gaining mainstream success in 2012, Ed Sheeran has toured across North America, and performed with some of the biggest acts in the business, including Taylor Swift. Although Sheeran’s star is continuing to rise, he has proven time and time again that he isn’t the typical celebrity. There’s something about him, besides than his music, that listeners just can’t seem to resist.  The best part of it all is that he genuinely seems like a great person.  Here are five reasons why it’s impossible to dislike Ed Sheeran.

1. He brought his concert to a fan who was unable to attend the actual show.

Two weeks after purchasing concerts to an Ed Sheeran concert, 20 year-old Jess Wright was diagnosed with cancer.  Her friends, who knew she would no longer be able to attend the show, wrote to Sheeran and asked that he please visit her in the hospital for her birthday party.  Instead of saying he was too busy, or not responding at all, Sheeran showed up to the girl’s party and spent the day hanging out with Wright and her friends.

2. He has no problem showing respect where it’s due.

Ed Sheeran is the kind of guy that gives people props when they deserve it.  Recently, he spoke out on friend and fellow musician, Taylor Swift’s most recently relationship saying that he approves of her new boy toy, world renowned DJ, Calvin Harris.  According to Sheeran: “He’s [Harris] cool. He’s a really nice guy, yeah, really, really nice guy.”

3. Has hasn’t forgotten where he came from.

Life wasn’t always so glamorous for Sheeran.  Before becoming a famous musician, he was technically homeless. During an interview Sheeran stated: “I wasn’t really homeless. Not proper cardboard box stuff. But yeah, I would gig at night and, if I didn’t have a sofa to crash on I’d sleep on the Circle Line all day. Then I’d gig the following night, and do it all again.” However, since becoming a superstar, he has not forgotten his humble roots.

4. He’s a philanthropist.

Ed Sheeran isn’t just working hard to give himself a better life.  He has also worked to raise money for several causes including a charity that works to serve sex workers.

5. He really loves his fans.

Sheeran has proven time and time again that he truly loves his fans.  He seems to be well aware this they are the reason for his success, and does his best to acknowledging them whenever he can.
