The Most Memorable Nick Cannon Beefs of All-Time
Nick Cannon has enjoyed a successful career as both an actor and a comedian. He rose to fame in the late 90s as a member of the cast of Nickelodeon’s popular sketch comedy show, All That. When the show ended in 2000, Cannon went on to star in his own spin-off show, The Nick Cannon Show. Although he was just in his early 20s at the time, Cannon was well on his way to building a firm foundation in the entertainment industry. However, even with large amounts of success, there were many people who just weren’t feeling Nick Cannon or his brand of funny. Throughout his career, several celebrities have not hesitated to label Cannon as “corny” and “lame.”
Although beef is something that is usually reserved for rappers (Cannon did attempt to have a rap career, but let’s be serious) Nick Cannon has managed to have his fair share of feuds with people from all over the entertainment industry. Although his sense of humor is what made him famous, he has never seen anything funny about the many insults that have been thrown his way. In his struggle to be taken seriously Cannon has often been unable to keep himself from responding to his many celebrity haters. Sadly for Cannon, he seems to be an easy target for anyone who is in need of someone to pick on, and things probably won’t be changing for him any time soon. Although the list will probably continue to grow, here are Nick Cannon’s most memorable celebrity feuds.
5. Nick Cannon vs. Cam’ron
Nick Cannon is no stranger to criticism. In the spring of 2014, he was involved in an internet altercation with Dipset’s frontman, Cam’ron. After seeing a picture of Nick Cannon preparing to promote his failed album, White People Party Music, Cam’ron took to Instagram and posted an image of Cannon with the caption: “Emergency black ppl meeting at 8 AM tomorrow morning to discuss removing Nick Cannon.” Cannon attempted to retaliate by posting an image of Cam’ron dressed in his signature pink fur coat; however, he was no match for the Harlem native’s heat. Cam’ron quickly fired the final shot by posting an image of himself wearing the same coat that Nick Cannon tried to make fun of. However, this time, Cam’ron was on stage with Mariah Carey, Cannon’s then wife.
4. Nick Cannon vs. Beyonce
By now everyone knows that causing problems with Beyonce is probably one of the worst thing to do. And, unlike many people, Beyonce is too busy being Beyonce to respond to anyone’s negative comments. However, that didn’t stop Nick Cannon from attempting to make a joke about Beyonce’s infamous inaugural lip syncing incident. On an episode of his show, Wild ‘n Out, Cannon came straight for Beyonce after his wife, Mariah Carey’s lip-syncing episode. Quickly jumping to his wife’s defense, Cannon said: “You gone come out with the microphone singing live, hitting high notes ….You could’ve just lip-synch that s–t like Beyoncé did at the inauguration!” Beyonce’s Bey hive wasted no time swarming Cannon’s Twitter account with slander and threats.
3. Nick Cannon vs. Howard Stern
While most celebrity beef occurs from a distance, the feud between Nick Cannon and Howard Stern was up close and personal. Stern and Cannon, who are both regular cast members on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, went through a rough period which created some tension on the set of the show. Cannon expressed that the beef between the two was “real” and he came as a result of some disrespectful comments stern made about Mariah Carey. Fortunately for the men, and the show, Cannon and Stern have overcome their differences and Cannon has stated “I consider him one of my closest associates and friends in this business, and it’s due to our rocky beginnings…I’ve always respected him for what he’s done on the radio platform and in media in general. To see someone so true to themselves, and so open and honest, you’ve gotta respect that.”
2. Nick Cannon vs. Chelsea Handler
Nick Cannon and Chelsea Handler have had several disagreements over the years. Their biggest feud took place on Twitter after Handler published a tweet saying, “‘I just heard nick cannon is starting a comedy tour. Who’s going to do the comedy?” Cannon, who took offense to the tweet, went on a Twitter rant directed towards Handler. Cannon and Handler’s beef dates back to 2010 when the two had their first argument via Twitter over comments that Handler made about Carey.
1. Nick Cannon vs. Eminem
By now you’ve probably noticed a trend in Nick Cannon’s feuds, and that’s that most of them have something to do with Mariah Carey. Well, his beef with Eminem is no different. Although Mariah and Eminem have a history of beef of their own, Cannon decided to insert himself in the situation after Eminem released a track titled, “Bagpipes From Baghdad” which included the lines “Mariah whatever happened to us? Why did we ever have to break-up?” Cannon did not take lightly to Eminem’s comments and took to his blog to respond to the rapper, stating: “Man to man, let’s meet up and deal with this like adults…This is my invitation to you, whenever and wherever you like sir. So when you come out of your introverted hiding place and ask your bodyguards if you can go out and play by yourself, I’m here Pimp!” Oddly, for someone who has his own sketchy comedy show, Cannon doesn’t seem to be able to take a joke.
