More Trouble for Former It Girl Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton

You might remember Mischa Barton as the popular “It” girl from the hit television series, The OC, but today she’s facing some legal trouble. The actress was on top of the world from 2003 to 2006, when she starred as Marissa Cooper, the girl from the affluent Southern California family whose life crashes down around her after it’s realized her father is cheating his clients out of all their money.

The actress was the main love interest of main character, Ryan Atwood, played by Benjamin McKenzie, and the show was one of the most popular of its time. However, it didn’t take long for Barton to go the same way as many young Hollywood actresses, and she was arrested for DUI in 2007, she endured a complete breakdown that included a psychiatric hold in 2009, and she’s been in and out of the press for her legal problems ever since. Despite a few small roles here and there that made it appear she might be getting her life back together, Barton doesn’t seem to be making a comeback.

She’s in the news again this week for yet another legal issue; her Beverly Hills mansion is reportedly in foreclosure. The actress is 5 months and $100,000 on her mortgage payments, and unless she can pay off the balance on her $8 million home or at least catch up on her payments, she’s going to lose it. The actress took out a loan for more than half the value of the home in 2009.

The 8-bedroom home is a multi-level home with an in-ground pool, privacy fence and large back yard that’s perfect for entertaining. Barton nor her camp has issued any sort of statement regarding the paperwork alleging her house is in foreclosure, which might indicate she’s in the process of working something out with her lender.
