10 Reasons Raven Symone Will Do Well on The View

Premiere Of Fox's "Empire" - Arrivals

Recently, it has been announced that Raven Symone that will be joining the cast of The View on a permanent basis.  Raven, a former child star who has worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business, has decided to come back into the spotlight after a several year hiatus.  Many hope that Raven’s presence on The View will be able to save the show from the bad path it seems to be going down this season.  Although only time will tell whether or not The View will get better,  things are already looking good for Raven who has already spent some time on the show.  Here are 10 reasons Raven Symone will do well on The View.

She’s funny

Raven has a great sense of humor.  If you’ve ever seen her old Disney Channel show, That’s So Raven, you’ll know that Raven has a thing for making people laugh, and she’s actually pretty good at it.  Having good comedic timing can definitely come in handy on The View, especially working with Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell.

She already has a fan base

Raven’s may just be 29 years-old, but she’s a veteran to the entertainment world.  She began her career in the 80s as a child star who instantly gained mainstream success for her role as Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Show. Throughout the 80s and the 90s Raven’s career continued to blossom and she mad appearances in several film and TV productions.  Raven has also released four solo albums and had her own show on the Disney Channel.  With that being said, Raven already has a fan base who are happy to see her in action again, and there may even be some people who tune in just to see her.

She opinionated

Over the year and a half, Raven has expressed some very strong opinions. In 2014, during an interview Raven stated, “I don’t want to be labeled ‘gay. I want to be labeled ‘a human who loves humans.” This angered many people who felt that Raven was denying her sexual orientation out of ignorance and naivety. During the same interview she also stated, “I’m an American. I’m not an African-American; I’m an American,” a comment upset many members of the black community – along with her more recent statement that Harriet Tubman should not be placed on the $20 bill.  Despite the backlash from her comments, Raven stood her ground and made it clear that she doesn’t care what people think about what she has to say, and she’s always open to share her personal stories and opinions.

She’s entertaining

Raven may have been out of the spotlight (other than her comments) for a while, but she’s definitely a true entertainer.  So far, no matter what role she’s taken on, she’s been able to entertain audiences.  That talent will definitely come in handy on The View, which hasn’t seemed to be doing as well since there have been multiple changes in the lineup.

She’ll shake things up

Having Raven on The View permanently will definitely shake things up – and hopefully in a good way. As the youngest cast member, she will definitely bring an interesting perspective to the show.  Plus, it’s always interesting to see what Raven has to say now that she is an adult – for the most part, people only remember her as a child star.

She’s ‘prepared’ for her new career moves

A few years ago, Raven decided to ‘retire’ from acting – a decision she says prepared her for her new role and the possibilities of future prospects in her career.  During a recent interview, Raven stated, “Those three years took off every single piece of dead skin that had been growing on me that I had not been able to shed because I was still in the public view. From [ages] 3 to 25 [I worked]. I said, ‘That’s a lot of gunk on top of me.’ Purged it: Sat in my house, went to school, traveled, fell in love. Just did what I needed to do. And now I’m able to be myself, and not a brand that was concocted to sell something. Now I’m who I want to be in the public eye.”

She fits in with the cast

Raven seems to have a pretty easy-going personality that will help her fit in with the rest of the show’s co-hosts. Most importantly, she already seems to have good chemistry with Whoopi Goldberg, the only veteran to be returning to the show.

She’s already got experience in the business

With more than 25 years in the business under her belt, Raven is already prepared for what happens when you’re a part of a really successful show.  Her experience will definitely help her deal with being back in the spotlight and handling herself on camera.

She’s always up for a good discussion

With all of her unpopular opinions, it’s no surprise that Raven is always up for a good discussion – something that is very important to The View. With Raven on the show, things will definitely be getting very interesting when certain topics come up.  As a guest co-host, she’s already proven that she will say just about anything. With her track record, there’s also a good chance that she’ll say something completely off-the-wall that, at the very least, will get her – and the show – a lot of attention.

She’s kind of already been on the show

Raven has been co-hosting on The View so often lately that her becoming a permanent co-host really isn’t a surprise. Viewers are already used to Raven, and she’s already proven that she can keep up with the show’s style and pace.
