10. Arnold Schwarzenegger
He’s been out of the headlines a bit—until his recent Bud Light commercial teasers for the Super Bowl—but the multi-millionaire actor scored front page news when he saved a drowning swimmer a few years back. Swimming out to the guy who was experiencing cramps, Arnold not only rescued the guy, but then brought him back to land and and stayed with him until he regained his breath.

9. Patrick Dempsey
He may have played a life-saving doctor on the popular TV show Grey’s Anatomy, but it turns out that Patrick Dempsey likes to save lives when not filming, as well. After seeing a major car accident occur, Dempsey was able to pull out a 17-year-old driver and back to safety. Wonder if it’s something he learned while on-set?

8. Vin Diesel
You can’t make this kind of stuff up. As an action star, Vin Diesel has had his fair share of stressful, heart-pounding scenes. But his skills were brought to the test when he rescued an entire family from a burning car. Running to the car that had flipped out of control, the actor pulled two children from the backseat, and then calmly talked the driver into climbing over the back seat. The car was engulfed in flames just a few minutes later.

7. Jack Osbourne
He may not be in the spotlight as much as his sister Kelly who is still hosting a TV show on E!, but rocker Ozzy Osbourne’s older child, Jack Osbourne, has some bragging rights over his sister. That’s because Jack saved a woman’s life when in Hawaii a few years back—on his honeymoon, nevertheless!

6. Garth Brooks
Brooks is one of the biggest country music stars of all-time, but he’s also one heck of a dude after hearing about this story. After a grass fire occurred in Brooks’ neighborhood, he pounded on the door of two boys who were home alone, warning them about the blaze, and driving them to safety in his pickup truck. Hey, that could almost be a country song in its own right.

5. Kate Winslet
She’s best known for her role in romantic film Titanic, but the Academy Award-winning actress found herself in a real-life action scene when she rescued an elderly woman from a burning home. That’s crazy enough. But what makes it even more alarming is that it was Sir Richard Branson’s 90-year-old mother, Eve, after the star was staying at the billionaire’s home on a vacation. The house was struck by lightning, and, ultimately, burned to the ground.

4. Ryan Gosling
As if women needed more reasons to love actor Ryan Gosling, and us guys needed to hear about how perfect he is, the guy goes out and does something like this. Gosling used his suave, coolness to convince two guys out of fighting during a dispute over a mere $10. The actor gave the vendor $20, and had both men go on his way.

3. Tom Cruise
While he might not be the mega-star that he used to be back in the day, Tom Cruise still has gigantic star-power. And although he has gotten plenty of negative press in the past decade or so—remember that whole couch fiasco?—Cruise gained positive opinions when he called for help and stayed with a woman after she was hit by a car. If that wasn’t enough, he followed the ambulance to the hospital, and even paid for the whole $7,000 hospital bill himself because the gal didn’t have insurance.

2. Jennifer Lawrence
She may be one of the sexiest, cool ladies of Hollywood, but don’t think that Jennifer Lawrence is just all looks and talent and not aware of real-life situations. Lawrence proved that when she found an unconscious woman who was lying in the grass outside of her apartment complex while the actress was walking her dog—waiting around for the paramedics to come.

1. T.I.
Although the rapper may have spent some time in prison of his own, don’t get that mixed up and think that T.I. is a bad person. That was evidenced when he was able to talk a man who was contemplating suicide out of doing so with a radio message that read, “Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I’m here to help you. Please come down to talk to me.” The guy decided to come down, and was treated for severe depression.
