10 Things You Didn’t Know about Shep Rose
Bravo is known for making it a point to feature some of the most dramatic shows on television, including the show from which Shep Rose hails; Southern Charm. As an adult, I can say with honesty that it’s very easy to avoid the drama and the conflict that so many of the men and women on this particular network face. I know that people say high school is something that you experience your entire life as you deal with people who never grow up but when you choose your circle wisely, you simply do not have that problem. My husband and I have had the same group of best friends for more than a decade now. It includes 6 couples who have been married more than a decade each, and the most drama and conflict we face is whose house to have pool day at this weekend.
It’s entirely possible. Of course, it’s boring for those of us who watch television if the people we are watching are normal, kind and mature. We love to see men and women who are supposed to be the most upscale, classiest men and women in their little city act like complete lunatics, and Shep Rose is the latest victim of Bravo’s innate ability to turn almost anyone into a raging lunatic on national television. It kind of makes us want to get to know him more. Is he really the kind of guy that makes insensitive comments about his friends or is he the guy who realizes immediately when he crosses a line and quickly does what he can to rectify the situation?
He’s comfortable
Shep Rose is not a rich man, per say, but he is living a comfortable life with a net worth of approximately $200 thousand. He works hard, has a good head on his shoulders and he does what he can to make his life a successful one. His career is one that has changed many times over the years, but he is a man of many interests as well as talents.
He’s got family in the business
In the public business, that is. His uncle is the former South Carolina Department of Safety Director, B Boykin Rose. He is a man who is known for his amazing job, his importance and for his role in the civic community. The entire family is very important in this area, and that’s why everyone knows this young man by his name alone.
He’s a true southerner
Some people like to consider themselves southerners, but you cannot be one unless you are born and raised here in the south. Since Shep Rose was born in South Carolina and spent his life living in Hilton Head, he gets to call himself a true southern gentleman. In fact, when he misbehaves, he finds a way to make it seem gentlemanly in a way that makes it almost impossible to be upset with him.
He’s older than many people think
Born in 1980, Shep Rose is certainly no longer in his 20s. Though his party skills and habits are reminiscent of someone who is in his 20s and might still think that he is in college, he is someone who has a much older body and mind that people like to think. Perhaps it’s his fun-loving party guy reputation that makes people feel he’s so much younger than he really is.
He went to boarding school
When he was a child, he went to a very prestigious school in South Carolina. His family has money, they are very important and Shep Rose was not cut out for any old school in the south. His family had high expectations for him, and they made sure his education reflected that. As he got a bit older, his family decided that the time was right to send him to boarding school. What this means is that he spent the last few years of his teenage years and education living elsewhere and attending school while living at the school.
He’s a Bulldog
As a University of Florida Gator myself, it’s with sadness I have to report that Shep Rose is a Georgia Bulldog. While the SEC pulls together at all times to be sure that we have one another’s back outside of the conference, there is a huge rivalry. In fact, our annual Halloween weekend game against Georgia has to be played on neutral territory, and it is considered the biggest cocktail party of the year. Just saying.
He’s intelligent
Not only did Shep Rose graduate from Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree, eh also went on to further his education. He chose another SEC school; Vanderbilt. He obtained his Master’s Degree here and that’s one of the reasons he is so good at most every business he takes up.
He loves the south
So many people complain about where they come from. They hate their hometown, the people, the lifestyle, the atmosphere. I think that loving where you came from is a good sign; it means you’re happy with the person you are today. If you are truly happy with the person you’ve become, it’s hard to hate the place you came from since it played such a prominent role in who you are now. Shep Rose must like who he really is, because he loves his hometown and his state.
He’s opening a restaurant
If you want to talk about business, Shep Rose is happy. He’s opening a restaurant called the Palace Hotel, which sounds uber fancy. It’s not; it’s a dive bar, but who cares? It sounds amazing just by the name alone. After all, my favorite place to go after dinner in NYC is the Palace Hotel for a glass of champagne at the champagne bar.
His family is actually important
Shep Rose might like to talk about how important his family is, and some people might find that a bit pretentious. However, he’s just speaking the truth. His family is actually pretty important to the point that the entire state of South Carolina has named several things after his family. For one, the Boykin Spaniel is the state dog and it’s named for his family. Secondly, the town of Boykin is also named after his family.
