Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Compete at CMAs

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are used to a little friendly competition in their marriage. This is a good thing, especially now that the nominations for the Country Music Awards have been announced and the two are pitted against one another as nominees for entertainer of the year. Only one can take home the prize for entertainer of the year, or maybe neither of them will take it home. Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and George Strait are also nominated in this category. Incidentally, this nomination is the 83rd for country superstar George Strait.

The nominees were announced Wednesday morning on Good Morning America by country stars Darius Rucker and Little Big Town. The biggest nominees of the year are Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban. Back to host the famous award ceremony are artists Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who announced this week that she’s expecting her first child with her hockey-player husband, Mike Fisher. The duo has hosted the awards show together the past few years and have done a stellar job. There will no doubt be a few jokes and exciting moments for Underwood as she hosts the awards while pregnant.

Along with a nomination for entertainer of the year, Lambert was also nominated in a few other major categories. She’s up for female vocalist of the year and album of the year. Her husband, Shelton, is nominated for male vocalist of the year.

This is the 48th annual CMA Awards, and it will air on November 5 on ABC, live from Nashville. The stars will show up in droves that night hopeful that they will win one of the most prestigious awards in country music. Those who haven’t been nominated will appear to present, perform and to watch their friends, coworkers and colleagues accept wins and smile gracefully through losses.
