Christian Bale Takes Role as Steve Jobs in New Biopic
Steve Jobs is one of the most iconic and relevant men of this generation. He is the founder and creator of Apple, and his legacy will continue for centuries to come. His death, though the world was aware it was coming, shocked the nation and his impact on the world is not soon forgotten. In fact, Hollywood feels it’s high time to create a biopic about the man who created the most popular brand in the world. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin confirmed the news today that the life of Steve Jobs is being turned into a movie, and he announced the name of the actor chosen to play the iconic Apple founder.
“What we needed was the best actor. It’s like the NFL draft. There are some people who make a science out of exactly the guys they need to draft a middle, inside linebacker who can do this…and other teams say, ‘Who’s the best athlete on the board.’ We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range, and that’s Chris(tian) Bale,” said Sorkin earlier today about the choice to hire Christian Bale as the man to play Steve Jobs.
It’s not like Bale hasn’t had his fare share of important shoes to portray. He’s been Batman, he’s been an Oscar winner for his role in The Fighter, and he’s been the rumored choice to take over the job as Jobs for many months. Today simply confirmed the rumors that have been circulating around Hollywood for some time.
“I couldn’t be more excited about him. He really is a phenomenal actor…he didn’t have to audition…It’s an extremely difficult part and he’s gonna crush it,” Sorkin continued. The actor hasn’t made any public statements since the announcement to discuss his feelings about taking on the role of Steve Jobs, which is something previously done by Ashton Kutcher – and it wasn’t well-received.
