Country Legend George Strait Wins Top Entertainer Award at CMA’s

47th Annual CMA Awards - Press Room

If you are not a fan of country music, you may not know the name George Strait. But anyone who knows a lick of country, knows that George is the man and has been doing the country thing for almost as long as the scene has existed. At last night’s CMA’s (Country Music Awards) the legendary crooner was awarded the Top Entertainer prize for his years and dedication to country music. Some of the other winners may be a little more familiar to some of you.

For the fourth year in a row, married country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton won best male and female country vocalist, respectively. Little Big Town won vocal group of the year, and Kasey Musgraves (how country is that name?) won best new artist. People seemed most moved By George Strait’s win, though. When the singer accepted his award,  the singer shouted out his Dad who had just recently passed away at the age of 91. For a list of more of the winners, head on over to USA Today.

At the end of the day, you don’t need to be a country fan to recognize that it is great when a legend in their field gets recognized, and that is just what happened with George Strait last night at the 2013 CMA’s.
