Five Movie Roles Reese Witherspoon was Born To Play

Reese Witherspoon

We all love the gorgeous, down-to-earth, fabulous Reese Witherspoon. She’s one of the most gorgeous actresses in all of Hollywood and she’s just divine. Even though none of us knows her in real life, we think we do. We just cannot imagine her being anything less that the gorgeous, beautiful and divine sweetheart she is in her movies, and we just cannot get over the fact that she’s so sweet and funny in her interviews. She’s the girl next door and we all want to be her best friend. It seems she was born to become an actress given the fact that she’s such a success in all her movies. But that doesn’t mean she will be remembered in all her movies. In fact, she was nominated for her second Academy Award for the movie Wild earlier this year. Though she did not win, she was stellar in the role. But it is not the kind of role for which she will be remembered. In fact, there are five very particular roles for which she was just born to play, and only one of them earned her an Academy Award nomination (and win for that matter). Find out which roles were the ones she was born to play.

Pleasantville

The movie was really not all that amazing, but when it came to the role of Mary Sue Parker, you just knew that it was Witherspoon who would be perfect for the role. Most people didn’t even know her back then, but she was so good it was just one of those things you could not deny.

Election

The uptight role of Tracy Flick was played so well by Witherspoon we are shocked she did not become a household name after this role. She’s so good with characters like these that it’s just amazing. It’s a true testament of her character and her abilities.

Legally Blonde

There is no one in the world more perfect for the role of Elle Woods than Reese Witherspoon. In fact, this is the role for which she will always be remembered. It’s the role for which she will always be the most famous. It was a stellar performance.

Sweet Home Alabama

The role of Melanie Carmichael is one we all remember. Witherspoon played a lovable southerner afraid of her past and hiding behind her designer career, and she just missed her home. We love that she got to play both a southern belle and an uptight kind of you-know-what. She did a great job and the movie was fantastic.

Walk the Line

Of all her roles, it was her role as June Carter Cash that we will remember Witherspoon for the most. She was so perfect in this role that she won an Oscar and she went down in history as being one of the best actresses of our generation.
