It’s a Girl For Savannah Guthrie!

Today there is happy news for Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie; she’s waking up to her second full day of motherhood. The 42-year-old news anchor and her husband, Mike Feldman, welcomed their first child, a little girl, on Wednesday morning in New York City. The baby, whom the couple did not know would be a girl, arrived in the early morning hours and both mom and baby are doing well.

Vale Guthrie Feldman weight 8 pounds, 5 ounces and is 19.5 inches. Guthrie’s co-host on the Today Show, Matt Lauer, expressed his happiness over the new bundle of joy when. Apparently, he was texting Guthrie back and forth when she suddenly stopped responding to his text messages. When he text back to inquire whether or not all was well, the response he received was a photo of a baby’s foot.

“I just sat there smiling. It was so great,” he said of that particular text message moment.

“I think we found heaven in his little hospital room in New York City,” Guthrie said of the new addition to her little family. It’s been a year of exciting news for the Today Show co-host. She and Feldman, who have been together for many years, surprised the world by exchanging their vows in March and announcing to their friends and family at their reception that she was four months along.

“It’s funny, ‘cause we set the wedding date, I bought my dress, and then I found out. So I’ve been doing a little praying that I would fit in it, and it all worked out,” she said to her co-hosts and viewers the week after her secret wedding. Many of the couple’s guests were surprised, but her co-hosts weren’t. They figured it out much earlier after noticing that their co-host was noticeably skipping the wine and other alcohol at work dinners and other functions.
