Harrison Ford’s Injury Sends Star Wars Production on Hiatus

Harrison Ford is everyone’s favorite Star Wars actor, and he’s been in the news recently for his onset injury. While filming the newest installment of the major blockbuster, Han Solo had a little accident on set that caused him to break his ankle. It’s been about a month since the incident. While fans were worried that the movie would have to stop filming until Ford was well enough to return to set, they were relieved when producers announced that filming would not be put off track. Some careful scheduling changes allowed for minimal disruption on set while Harrison Ford recovers.

However, Star Wars: Episode VII is back in the news with two major announcements. The first is that the franchise has cast two new actors who are relatively unknown. “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering new talent and in casing Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition,” explained Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president and producer. The film chose Crystal Clarke. The American actress is going to be in another big blockbuster next year, The Moon and the Sun, alongside Pierce Brosnan. Pip Anderson is a British actor who started in a Sony ad for Spiderman in 2012.

Meanwhile, the cast and crew will get an unexpected vacation for the next two weeks as production comes to a halt while Ford undergoes physical therapy to recover from his injuries. The star is going to need another two weeks before he can return to set – at least – and he is currently wearing a very high tech leg brace, undergoing physical therapy, and seeing his doctor regularly while he awaits the green light to return to set. Once the film goes back into action, the two new actors chosen from the recent casting call will begin work on the movie for the first time.
