Hugh Jackman Diagnosed with Skin Cancer for Third Time in One Year

Being a superhero doesn’t exempt Hugh Jackman from going through health issues just like people all over the world. Wolverine himself was just treated for skin cancer for the third time in one year, and he’s using his fame to help the rest of the world understand the importance of using sunscreen. The 46-year-old actor first underwent surgery to remove skin cancer lesions last November and he did it again in May. He’s not opening up that he recently received treatment for a third time.

The actor has had three experiences basal cell carcinoma in less than one year, and he is urging his fans and the rest of the world to please use sunscreen at all times. It’s imperative that people apply sunscreen each and every day, even if their sole exposure to the dangerous UV rays of the sun are through the windows of their vehicles. Jackman, thankfully, is doing well following his treatment. He made it a point to use his Instagram account to remind people that sunscreen is important. He posted a photo of the speech song “Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen) by Baz Luhrmann with the caption “SUNSCREEN,” to his account. It was simple, direct and sent a big message.

“I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie, particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on. But the beauty of this is it’s all preventable, it’s just about getting proper check-ups. I can be a typical man, a little lazy, I couldn’t be bothered and now I’m not lazy at all,” said Jackman when he recently opened up about his experience with skin cancer and how he’s become a bit wiser when it comes to caring for his skin.
