Kristen Wiig and Ellen DeGeneres Perform Let it Go
Just when you finally thought you had the lyrics to Frozen’s “Let it Go” out of your head for good, Ellen DeGeneres and Kristen Wiig had to go and ruin it for everyone. In a country where it’s entirely too hot for anything enjoyable, most of us are wishing that Disney’s Elsa could make things a little cooler for us while at the same time erasing the word’s to “Let it Go” from our minds. That’s not to say the song performed by Idina Menzel isn’t a beautiful song – it is – but anyone with a young daughter is tired of hearing it on repeat.
For this reason, it’s completely unbelievable that neither Ellen nor Kristen actually know the words to the hit song. However, that didn’t stop the hilarious duo from standing on top of a coffee table and belting out the words as they went across the teleprompter in front of them. They were off-key, off-note and absolutely horrible; and it was hilarious to watch them take on the hit song.
When Kristen Wiig stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres show on Monday to talk about her upcoming movie, “Skeleton Twins,” she was asked by DeGeneres to stand up and sing with her. Since DeGeneres had just given a little girl and her mother every piece of Frozen paraphernalia on the planet for their cute rendition of one of the movie’s hit songs, they decided to take a crack at “Let it Go,” and they did it no justice.
What they did was almost show the world Wiig’s under garments, dance on a table and butcher the ballad. And it was funny. When the line, “My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around,” appears, Wiig stops singing long enough to say, “Kids don’t even know what fractals are,” before continuing the pair’s off-key rendition of the song. Here’s the video.
